Wow, those are some amazing pictures. I use mechanical pencil most of the time but I keep running out of lead to put in them so I keep having to draw pictures with regular old pencils... I find it easier to do finer and cleaner details with a mech pencil instead of sharpening pencils to a point where they might break or using H pencils which like murdering (translate as denting) your paper and are way too light >:

I wish I could figure out and use shading techniques like that. They must take a lot of patience and discipline. Such will take lots of experimenting and practice though :0

The line strokes are placed closer together to make it look darker. Also, the lines can be shortened or lengthened. Placing shorter lines closer together will make that area darker. The work he did is incredible for how fine the detail was. It must of taken him a very long time to do.

Aquasixio is amazing. Calling himself a noob and saying he used to draw like shit when it was far better than what I could do when I first started drawing digitally. Now that is what you call a noob and drawing like shit. In one year he went from above average (also amazing what he did in just half a year.) to amazing. Hmm, I suppose I must draw more frequently than I am doing now, so as to improve faster.

His oldest work shown was when he was 20 years old. By the time your THAT OLD you will be as good in your own way.

Don't forget to look at his tutorials. Note that even he is not doing this for a living. He is now a Psychologist. Graphic Arts at least you can make a living.

You are so very fortunate to be starting so young. My father was an artist and he never took 10 minutes in his life to show me how to draw a box, and that was it. He helped my brothers and older sister, but wanted nothing to do with me as a child.

I learned on my own, starting with pencil, then charcoal and pen. Boys were not supposed to take art class, but my sister showed me a little. The teachers went on strike for 2 months, and all we got to do is use art supplies.XD In School, I went into printing, as it typesetting and printing newspapers, posters, pamphlets, etc. We had a darkroom at home, setup for my brothers who got bored with it. My sister took most of the pictures and I did the developing, enlarging, printing part. It was very fun.

I went to sea for a living (an Icelandic tradition), but I did keep doing some art. I started doing metal art while I sailed, then started water-coloring when I was home, and Gold and Silver casting to make jewelry. I also used gems and Austrian Crystal. I got to hate doing Rosaries, but I kept getting commissions for them for a lot of money LOL.

I retired when I was 34 and started doing art more seriously. But my primary mission was volunteer work to help the dying and feed the poor, which I did for 8 years. Then I started counseling men and kids for suicide problems. Blah, blah. I got a computer and bought Photoshop 1 year after it was was born.

I wish I had had a chance when I was your age. People thought I was stupid because of the Autism. I spent most of my time proving them wrong. In the end, when you are dying, it is meaningless what people think about you, but then it was important. Especially when you have a secret people would kill you for. It is better now in many places, but even in the US, gay kids are tormented by others, and driven to suicide in large numbers.

Good grief, why am I saying all of this. I better go, sorry for drifting off like that.

Ah, do not worry about drifting off as it is also a habit of mine.

Wow. I simply started with pencil and paper. Lots of circles. Scribbles. Children's art. Then at the age of 3 I drew pictures on the plane as I was moving to England and ran around, woke people up and kept trying to show them my pictures. I don't know whether they were pictures of actual things, or pictures noone knows what are supposed to be, or just scribbles... Anyways, teachers always applauded me for my talents. When I was around 5-6 they said I had the drawing ability of a 10 year old. Much to my pleasure XD

I moved back to Iceland when I was 7. Fall that year I joined the Scouts. Also fall 2001 I started practicing karate, and still do, and the next belt up is black!
I kept drawing. I soon discovered oekakis. I was quite the noob. Anyhow, I drew in oekakis for a couple of years as it was the best drawing program I had really. 2006 or something I got my first tablet. It acted strange from the beginning and soon stopped working completely, but I used it lots and lots meanwhile. Then I got another... which broke somehow too. Then I have my current one, and the smallest. (The first being the biggest ) But not the cheapest. The first was the most expensive though >_> it was a birthday present. I think I started drawing in photoshop as soon as I got my first tablet. And so on...

Here in Iceland, nowadays, nobody even cares if you're gay or not (as far as I know. I'm at least very open-minded about such things.). I have a bi friend, and I don't mind at all. I just think it's awesome she feels that she can tell other people. There are a few gay icelandic celebrities too... One of which noone knew was gay first. And I don't think they made a big deal when they did find out. After all, he was a bit effeminate, if that is the correct word. I think everybody knew... before it was 'revealed'

Working at sea, huh, my grampa did that. Sometimes goes every now and then. It's sort of falling apart because of the quota system. We can't overfish dem fishies. All the big corps have garnered all the quota for themselves. There are no fishermen who earn their living by themselves. They don't have any quota anymore. Got bought off them. People also got dirt rich from selling their quota.

I have had mine for about six years now, A WACOM Intuos 6x8.

I sailed on giant supertankers. It is hard to leave family and friends behind for 2 to 4 months at a time. I made a lot of money, saved, invested, and was able to retire. Everyone else who made the same amount of money are all up to their ears in debt with giant houses, 3 cars, etc. I spent less and saved. When I was 34, I never had to work again to survive.

It always makes me feel good to know people who do not hate others. You will find in life that Hate, Greed, and the lust for Power/Control over others, are the roots of most that is wrong with humanity. Love, Compassion, Tolerance, and Acceptance take an active choice.

My philosophy for living starts with Understanding. Through Understanding people and their condition or malady, you can find Compassion for them; and through your Compassion, you can find Forgiveness; and through your Forgiveness, you will find FREEDOM; and freedom leads to Tolerance; and this great circle leads the the Erasing of Hate, the bane of humanity.

Understanding, Compassion, Forgiveness, Freedom, Tolerance, and no Hate. String the ends together in a circle.

I try to treat others with COMPASSION, RESPECT, HONESTY, FAIRNESS, TOLERANCE, and TRUSTWORTHINESS.

A note on Forgiveness:

Forgiveness is NEVER about of CONDONING wrong doing. Forgiveness IS about letting go of anger, retribution, revenge, and hate. Forgiveness is about not continuing to be a victim. Forgiveness is about not letting the perpetrators continue to control your emotions.

A person who has lost a loved one to murder can loose the rest of their lives in bitter anger and hate for the perpetrators. Every time they think about the person who killed their loved one, it drives their negative emotions. It affects every aspect of their life, like a dark cloud hanging over their lives. Guess what, the perpetrator succeeded in ruining two lives, not just one.

Emotions like anger and hate ROT your soul (self) from the inside out, and can destroy you. Why not set yourself free instead.

UNDERSTANDING
Sounds easy, but it's not. How can you possibly stand in the shoes of another person and understand him or her? I went on a journey of understanding of my parents, who I needed to find forgiveness for. It took a few years, and a lot of questions and research. I needed to understand how they grew up, what life was like back in the early 1900's, what their relation ship was like, what WWII had done to them, what having a bunch of children did to them. I needed to understand why they became the people they were today. I needed to understand why they treated me the way they had.

At the end of that journey, I was able to find compassion for them, for what their choices and what life had made them. Then the forgiveness part is relatively easy.

We cannot be expected to do heavy research all the time, but there are times when it becomes important. Fr example, it might be important to deeply research the Arab and Jewish Palestinian people, as well as the European Jews who emigrated to Israel, and to research the conflict in as unbiased a way possible, before demonizing a people.

I have researched Islam and various Muslim cultures around the world, to help me understand them. I could never demonize or hate them after that. I can hate their treatment of women and gays, etc.

All over this world gays are hated without thought. Priests and ministers say terrible things, but they are not theologically true. People keep saying the Bible condemns gays, but actually it does not, and I could take you through every appropriate passage in both the new and old testaments.

The point is about understanding things before condemning others.

I don't abuse them, I think, the wires were bad and they just kept dying on me. I've had my current one for quite a while now and it hasn't shown any signs of failing or anything luckily.

Wacom Bamboo. The other tablets I had were TRUST and WIZARD or something like that. I suppose WACOM's the best, eh? XD

I was kidding about the tablet. Like, I would ever actually turn you into the "Tablet Amnesty" authorities? Of course not!

WACOM has a good reputation for a reason. I want a new one only because it has the finger-touch slide bars, for scrolling horizontally, etc. Scrolling horizontally is a pain for me (literally), from going back and forth to my Kensignton roll ball.

I keep forgetting your young, and default to you being older. Maybe because you seem older. got to go. Cheers (meaning have a grand time, not the drinking kind).
