Hey! I've not been on here in so long that I'd been logged out and couldn't remember my password, haha. I finally remembered it today. I kind of lost interest in my work and in this site, but maybe I should get back into it. I'd probably start a second account though, since this one pretty much represents who I was at 16, and I no longer feel much of a connection to most of this work.

Anyway, how are you doing, Mr Larsen?

Oh, same. I do know a few people who share my interest/appreciation for Vikings, mythology etc., and one or two people who listen to the odd bit of folk metal, but I mostly obsess on my own. Occasionally I seek out like-minded company via the internet xD

I have a few friends who love mythology, but they tend to be more into Greek than Norse, and I have pretty much no friends into folk metal, so I end up obsessing on my own there too

Though my boyfriend did go and find some Norse mythology books out of interest when he heard I was trying to find some (they are almost impossible to find here), unfortunately they were in a library and he didn't take them out.
He just used that to point out that it was possible, after I had said it was impossible >_>

I think it's pretty difficult to find stuff on Norse mythology wherever you are! Many people in the UK are somewhat familiar with Greek mythology, and we learn bits of it in school, but Norse mythology is something you won't really find out about unless you make a deliberate effort to do so. Most people have heard of Odin and Thor, and that's about it (And I know one girl who thought that Thor was a Greek god -_-) So it is not impossible, but difficult! I was really surprised/insanely happy to come across a random old copy of Volsunga Saga on the bookshelves at home recently (not technically mythology, but related). I think it may have belonged to my grandfather

Yup, the internet is a wonderful place, both for finding information and for finding others who share your interests

Yeah, that's definitely true! Yeah, I've learnt about Greek and Egyptian at school, but never Norse.
I've made many deliberate efforts, and I still think I don't know much >_<

wow, I've heard some bad mistakes around mythology before, but Thor being Greek? That's a new one to me.

I would be very happy to find something like that!
My grandfather has a collection of mythology books that were written in the 1800's which he has said I can have, only problem is that I live in a different country.

Same, I wish I knew more as well. Let us, in the spirit of Odin, continue on our ceaseless quest for knowledge!! Although personally I'd draw the line at losing an eye/hanging myself from a tree. I think I'll stick to reading books etc. xD

I've recently started trying to learn some Old Norse, just for the fun of it (yes, I'm a geek ) I'd probably do better to learn a language that people actually speak, haha, but Old Norse is a cool language and since I like Norse literature I thought I'd try and learn a bit for myself!

Ah, that collection sounds fascinating! It's a shame you can't get hold of them very easily. I love mythology and folklore, especially Norse. At some point I'd also like to look into Celtic and Finnish mythology, as I've always loved all things Celtic, and I'm sort of obsessed with Finland lately! One of the things I really like about folk-metal (and traditional folk music for that matter) is it's given me a real interest in the countries and cultures that it's come from.

I'd like to learn Old Norse, but I just don't have the time to at the moment, training three times a week and having school to keep up with

Yeah, but I've read most of the Norse book, I'd like to finish reading it sometime

I've learnt a bit about Celtic mythology, but I don't know much, I love Celtic Art though, I haven't looked much into Finnish mythology because I've been too distracted by their collection of Metal bands

Yeah, I really like that about Folk-Metal, it's taught me a lot about the cultures.

Aww, no problem. You have an artist's eye, if you get what I mean, and that is a thing you cannot really teach someone. But if you have it naturally (and I think you do from what I've seen- your photos are artistic, rather than just simple photographic recording of objects) then you can only get better Keep at it!
