WELL ACTUALLY

i dunno if you'll want to kill me or not
during the movie, while i was still excited, it felt like it was really cool and stuff but when i got home and actually thought about it, after the hype, in a level-headed manner, i realised that i... i didn't think it was such a great movie.
don't get me wrong - animation-wise, it was absolutely gorgeous and stunning and tearjerkingly beautiful, but the story itself didn't do much for me. and i realised my favourite part of the movie was Jack's backstory because it was one of the two times i was really really moved. the other, by the way, was when we saw Tooth after Pitch kidnapped all the babies (THEREY WERE SO CUTE AFNLFKFJ) and stole all the teeth. that was pretty heartbreaking.
i wished i could have seen each of the Guardians' backstories, before they were guardians, and also how they found their 'centres'.
Pitch himself, as an antagonist, was... i'm conflicted. because although i really understood his motives, it didn't seem too... threatening. i mean, all he was doing was giving little kids nightmares. oooooh. i'd think if he wanted to be noticed he'd kind of target the whole world.

my initial thought was that Pitch would seduce (not in a sexual way xD) Jack into siding with him. i thought he would appeal to Jack's feeling of invisibility. and then blah blah Jack would remember his backstory and find his centre and character development blergh blergh he betrays Pitch. *shrug*

BUT YEEESSSS my friend (i think you know her on tumblr: irishdullahan is her url. we would always get way too excited at even the mention of RotG.) and i held hands for practically the whole movie and her nails were digging into my skin and i didn'T EVEN CARE BECAUSE

I THOUGHT THE SISTER WAS GOING TO FALL IN
AND I THOUGHT HE WOULD HAVE TO DIVE IN AFTER HER IN THE FREEZING COLD WATER AND EXERT HIMSELF SO MUCH THAT HE WOULD DIE PROTECTING HER AND
PROTECTING HER, SEE. PROTECTION. GUARDIAN MATERIAL.

oooh, another friend had a really interesting theory in the middle of the movie. remember when the kids and the Guardians were in the street and Pitch was just gloating about "Oh, you will fight for them, but who will fight for you?" and Sandy was still.. gone ;A; my friend said that she thought one of the kids would have to die and become Sandy. that was actually not a very far-fetched idea O_o

but yeah, that's basically a non-condensed version of what i thought of the movie.
