If you go to the person's profile, click "prfile options" on the top left corner, you will see "ignore [insert name here]". Not sure if you want to go this route though, I would have loved it back in the day.

I already know for a fact that this doesn't work with the shoutbox, which is where I spend a vast majority of my time on the Temple. :( (Sad)
