i can't the booking of the place where we can do it + all the legal stuff coverage etc has given us the time for some where in the ending 2 weeks of september. once we are in august we'll make the artwork for the thingy xD then produce the thingy and place it and it'll be soo damn cool xD i can't wait but i have to and i want to tell you and many others what we're doing but there is a reason why magicians never tell how they do their tricks ^^

and seriously polluted sea water? O.O how do you even manage that but i said diving cause you do it well out in the sea with the oxygen tank and flippers and all xD its fun really. But i'll take your word on the polluted and not tell you to do so anymore.

I know I take forever to reply but can't do much about it; I have canorous design to take care off and then in the middle east we have so many rules and all that I can't open a branch of my company here but I've found a work around and opening a partner company and not to mention I've got a job as well cause i can't sit around till the company is set now can i? would be stupid. So been fully most ridiculously busy.

To start freelancing you need to work hard and make some contacts; easiest way is to go into the local market in relations to your work (aka get a job related to your work) that way you gain experience and you make contacts. another way would be to visit the people you're trying to target (this is taken in the sense of class; lower-middle-rich) drop them a business card etc or if its the rich class i'd recommend dropping them a sample of your art the rest will depend on how much they like it etc for freelancing online you still need contacts if people have bought your work before let them spread the word for designers like me we have many online places where we can have contests for creating a specific logo,ad,poster,stationary etc either you win or not it helps build a portfolio which can be very useful to show off your work to the clients.

as for a business once you have contacts and work flowing in you can't do it all by yourself thats when you hire people but for that you need to get your paper work done and get your company registered etc its an investment but not too huge cause you already have work from where you can cover it up.

Hope that info was useful; As for me I've been a freelancer but now am running a company. I've always looked up to people like bill gates, steve jobs, Einestine, Prince Talal (one of the richest people in the world and is a middle east business man) .... While i was in school i had a passion for design n creativity later in college and before the start of uni i used to indicate my work with the name of canorous design had a different logo and all if you remember in uni i did my BDes (Bachelors in Design) majoring in the creative media marketing and advertisement. I've done part time jobs which build up my conversation skills with customers (usually did sales jobs) also had jobs relating to stock control etc each one played its part. Then I signed up for the live projects class at uni, what they do is they divide the class into many groups depending as per projects sometimes the groups are of 10 people sometimes 2 people etc and they get in real clients with real needs and let each group work on the project; which ever groups work the client chooses or likes best they get paid for the rest its experience and I've been successful many times so that inspired me for freelance work i started freelancing based on that the clients from uni would refer me and my work was reference based I never compromise with quality so there have been cases where i had to reject clients cause they wanted low quality stuff (not that i didn't need to earn but for maintaining a standard you gotta make sacrifices) after making a huge portfolio i got canorous design registered so all paper work has been done then i moved to the middle east since you can save a hell lot more here

But here market is way different then the international market so i joined a company where now i'm the creative director; still freelancing with references with the canorous design name and am establishing another company; a sister company to canorous design called ink designs paper work is almost done and then projects on that will start as well. so i've got 3 places to concentrate on as you can see have my plate filled to the max xD teehee

regarding the relationship, you're right but if she has to understand that for the whole year it isn't exactly healthy. I personally would love to spend time with who ever is my special someone cause hey if shes special she should get special attention as well. Relationships don't last if the sacrifice is one sided so thats why i decided not to have any until i'm done setting up the business then i can hire a bunch of peeps to do the work and i can enjoy with my special someone nice idea aye? but it'll take this year atleast

i used canorous design since my college/school days ... I started doing posters, logo designs, wallpapers etc

and i noticed this when on many wallpaper sites i saw my wallpapers appearing with the name canorous design and i personally didn't put them there and early in 2007 i did a logo design for "Open Arms" which is one of the biggest charity organizations in the UK so I knew i'll be noticed now and i got the name registered the same month

depends on how well its going for you, if its good income now and you see it increasing defo register. if not then why pay for all the registration fees and all that when your business isn't going higher. It'll be like paying for something you don't need; in the current market you need to have a good enough base to start with. I personally made my references first then I got the name registered because i plan to go high and as you can see am aiming for the A class customers only + favors for those who can get me more business (you have to let people taste the food before they start buying it ) and apart from that I have the opportunity for the world record ... so you can see the name will be around easily

not really, I went onto 99designs.com signed up etc to compete just to increase my portfolio but my main portfolio is made up of designs I did for the clients; most of which I can't post online since there is a confidentiality agreement although am allowed to keep them on a portfolio which I am only supposed to show. I did some work for Warner Bros. Premier Studio but since it was internal studio stuff I can't show that anywhere but that's something you learn along the way what to show off on the portfolio and what not.

My current portfolio is around 40 Pages of creative work alone. and I'll be adding the Genniss Book Record one to it as well soon and there are many others as well.

but I do plan to have a website (which is on the way) and I guess it is similar to having a portfolio network but I'm not sure.

mhmm, well currently we are just 4 people in canorous design. What i do is i provide creative support to other advertising agencies in terms of creative solutions.

I'm currently providing creative support to Bridges Activations Agency ... www.bridgescorp.tk is their current website. They are an activations agency in the middle east. So my idea of Guinness is something I provided to them so i'm not sure if i get an individual certificate for it or what etc but we'll see how it goes when the Guinness people/judges etc arrive here.

and apart from that I'm starting another agency by the name of Inkdesigns here in the middle east that has like 3 people right now so yeah i'm a busy bee xD but i want to be well settled before i marry teehee

everyone has a twitter xD its a faster way to get updates from people/companies/technology/news you follow. I asked if you have it cause i'll be updating it as the activation is going on for the Guinness event etc also will be adding images for the event and all that so it'll be the best way to get the updates but its not like you have to have a twitter but its something the new generation is using a lot so you know what i mean

haha am young (am almost 25 short by few months) so this is the right time for working for my future. Yeah I've been back and forth to UK and the middle east. Most of my schooling and University has been done in the UK. I choose middle east for the work cause we have more savings here than back in UK. Quad-lingual, i know English (my mother tongue, British English, American English & British town slang) Arabic (picked it up along the way still not that good with it but its enough) Latin (studied it at school still wondering where i'll use it tho) & Urdu (another language i picked along the way that i know well).

Apart from that i know bits of gujju, Russian, French, Spanish , Punjabi And few words of random languages that i don't know why i learned xD

I'm a planner, an organizer & leader I have lots to worry about. If i don't set up a good business i can't quit the job i have and believe me i am not someone who can be bossed around i think like a boss myself and then my ideas/comments/concerns totally piss my bosses off cause they in a way say that you don't know how to do this job xD haha not my fault the other day i told them to do something in a particular way and they were like we've been in this field for like 30+ years so don't tell us what to do i was like fine ... and then 4 months later they are doing it as i originally suggested 4 months ago and they have been avoiding me xD lol its funny cause some things are based off of common sense and common sense isn't all that common.

The clients here (in the middle east) are the worst. For example We need 700 boxes of 50x25 cms on a wall of 1000x400 cms (not sure how they calculated that this could be done) O.O seriously the max number of boxes that size on that wall can be approx 247 how on the bloody blue planet do i place 700 of them xD I knew this was going to be a pain so i told them since they already calculated it can they give the the number of horizontal and vertical rows so i can give them the design alot sooner and they spent 2 days on the math and came back to me saying why don't you do it then i gave them the 2 options; for placing 700 the box size will be 13x5 cms if they want larger boxes it'll be just 247 cause an elephant can't fit in a mouse hose

obviously i didn't say the last part but i thought of it while explaining

And this is just one of the many that happen here. It was fun in the start but on a continuous point its just plain annoying.

Are you fluent in all four? That's impressive. And even the other languages. Which ones have you found most useful? Has the different languages helped you reach clients you otherwise wouldn't have had? And latin is dead. (Though it would be badass if you could speak to someone on the streets who knows latin as well. It certainly helps you understand English better though.

Am fluent in English (of course doh) Latin as well but I see no point why I need to be fluent in that one lol; fluent in Urdu speech I can read the text as well but am slow at it. Arabic I'm just learning so not that fluent yet but I understand almost all of it now. Can read and write it as well

The languages are helpful of course; everyone loves to hear their mother tongue from strangers its just something people like so it changes their perspective/opinion about you. Its defo a plus point to know languages.But I'm where i am because of my work/portfolio. Images speak louder than words xD teehee

its not about the words with the bosses here; I'm probably the most polite employee they have; its more to do with them not feeling superior when i have ideas they didn't think of.

I Miss am a creator i create out of the blue or any other colour for that matter xD

The client is never right; the customer is always right. You don't see people going to a doctor and telling him how to operate similarly i don't let clients tell me how to design
