Aikido and Eskrima currently, I have dabbled in a few others in the past (though kenpo was unfortunately not one of them, yet! ). What does kenpo primarily focus on? I get the impression it's mostly striking, locks, and some takedowns?

Cool, I did eskrima for like a year, it was super fun. And yeah, kenpo is a lot of strikes, locks and take downs but we do a bunch of forms too (my faves.) What's Aikido all about?

The philosophy of Aikido is using the other person's balance against them, and take them down without injuries (so it's used by police, esp. In Japan) It's a lot of kuzushi, locks, takedowns. We also train a lot of ukemi (it's half the art really) because despite the whole "try to resolve conflict without injuring anyone" thing it's actually incredibly dangerous...so this the only art I think that teaches things like silent break falls
