# About me

Isn't inspiration a wonderful thing?

I've grown from a bookish kid who loves drawing and history to an eclectic librarian moonlighting as writer and doll artist. Who knew?

What I love about creating a portrait in three dimensions is that it allows me to develop many different skills - sculpting, painting, body construction and costuming. Capturing a likeness and the essence of the person is my ultimate goal.

In the past few years, I have been making miniature portraits, but am returning to the larger, 11-12 inch sizes as I think they tend to come out better and allow for more detail.

My grand obsession for the past year and a half has been the script I have been writing; a biopic of the great Swedish singer, Jenny Lind. The inspiration has been so consuming that it has spilled over into my doll making.

Few things are more satisfying to a writer or artist than discovering people whose lives are so fascinating and inspiring that your imagination just takes flight. This is what happened when I learned about Jenny Lind and her friend and mentor, the great German composer and Renaissance man, Felix Mendelssohn. Two great artists sharing the same artistic vision. Did they fall in love? Jenny - almost certainly. But did Felix? Ah, but there lies the heart of the tale ...

How wonderful that the writing has also revived my long-dormant love of drawing. I may post some favorite scenes from my script here, amateurish as they are.

Thanks to all of you for your appreciation and encouragement! I am so impressed and humbled by the remarkably diverse talent here.

And who knows where inspiration will take me next!

I love your work! Have you considered making Purcell?

Purcell is one of my favorite composers, so yes, I would consider making him. (Besides, I love those full-bottomed wigs! They were even more flamboyant in Purcell's era.)

Thanks so much for the compliment!

You're so sweet to say that, dear. You're a scholar and an artist all rolled into one and I love your wicked SOH!

To tell you the truth, I sometimes think I have to rein in my FB enthusiasms. My Swedish cousins probably think I'm the family loon by now!

With love and to you, my friend.
