Oh boy, another fool who thinks that "according to Wikipedia" automatically makes a statement correct. Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information, nor will it ever be while they continue to let anyone edit the articles. Yes, many people use it, but dose that make it correct? No it does not.
Cheers,
~A~

I hope this is acceptable to you, since you don't trust Wikipedia and think ill of people who cite it. There's no reason to flame this guy for trying to take a broad approach a topic not often discussed in Western culture (ie, depriving one's self of food for spiritual reasons.)

I told my mom about me being intrested in Baha'i, but she wants to make sure It's serious. How could I convince her that Baha'i is a serious religion and not something like scientology or the Jehova people?

Hey sorry for my late reply but I want to catch you before too much time passes.
What I would advise is have a devotional with your parents. By this I mean sit down with your folks with some Baha'i prayers, if you don't have a prayer book print some you like (Ocean software is helpful,) and everybody read some. Maybe look for prayers for mankind, or for America, or family, those might be good places to start.
"The source of courage and power is the promotion of the Word of God, and steadfastness in His Love."
-Baha'u'llah
"The Word of God is the master key for the whole world, inasmuch as through its potency the doors of the hearts of men,
which in reality are the doors of heaven, are unlocked. "
-Baha'u'llah
Sometimes when you don't have the words to say it yourself, the best option is to share the "Word of God." I find that praying with my family brings us closer & is a way I can show & share love even though I may not always get along with certain members.
Second, if you would like to join the Baha'i faith, you don't have to wait, there is no ceremony. You can start right away, whenever you feel ready.

Nice! Internet world made big things small. I guess you got the basic idea of the Baha'i Faith.
What are you planning to do with the Baha'i Faith if you were to embrace it though?
Everyone has a different path of service but aiming to one goal, which is the Unity of Mankind (or Unity in Diversity). Example, my plan is to improve the condition of my society in United Arab Emirates by introducing Human Right laws and also enhancing the Economy of African nations by visiting the country and understanding their culture and their status before setting out an Economic theory. Still got long way to go (it's my 2nd year in college)...soon though.
I suggested because Ruhi gives a better insight and focuses thoroughly on God's attributes and Writings of God. But you know, there are other activities that Baha'is hold, like Devotional Gatherings (prayer session), where you can pray prayers of any religion.
Anyway, I'm asking all the questions, I do not like that. You start asking something .
Here is a prayer I would like to share, they are the Hidden Words. The reason why they are called Hidden Words is when Prophet Muhammad passed away, Fatima, her daughter, was extremly depressed. During that period, after a few days Fatima sees in her dream a Manifestation reciting the Words of God. Fatima woke up with Joy because she knew these are the Words of God Manifested through her. When she told Ali, a disciple of Muhammad and Fatima's Husband, of this dream, he said that these words are to be told in the future because of it's depth and essence.
"O Son of Spirit
My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting."
