Hello.I used to have a bunch of stuff up here. I deleted it all, because I didn't like that my entire gallery was given share buttons without my permission. It was OK, because I've been mostly using Flickr for the past couple of years anyway.
But I've been browsing various keywords for images to post on tumblr, so I've been more active here lately. And I decided to come back - sort of.
I want to keep my Flickr account "secular", insofar as art can be distinct from the spiritual. I am religious - a Pagan - but my religion doesn't enter into most of my work. I wanted to keep that account for my art first and foremost. And I've never taken religious photographs or made religious art anyway.
But I *could*. And maybe I started to want to. Maybe I'd been inspired by the work of others. So, I decided to make this deviant art account religious-themed, and use it to post photographs (and maybe other things) created with the spiritual in mind.
It might not always be apparent. On the other hand it might be overt. I know some followers will want to disappear, and that's cool with me.
So, a little background: I am a Heathen, and a religious witch. "Heathen" refers specifically to Germanic polytheism. I'm not a Wiccan, although I find Wicca interesting and I like to read about it. I am happy to answer questions on these lines if you would like to know more.

OMG I had to really search for that message you sent me letting me know about "The Rites of Odin" and I'm so glad you did cause I recently Converted to Asatru! Besides those 2 books ("Essential Asatru" by Paxton and the other one O.O I forgot the name already) but could you maybe give me a few more Idea's on what to read? I want to read those 2 but want to fill my library with a few more

There's the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda - for the former, you can find the Bellows translation online, and the Hollander translation is a good one. And all the sagas as well - there are translations online for free at places like Sacred Texts and the Gutenberg Project; those translations tend to be older and not everyone can read from a screen, but free is free, you know? Still, worth shelling out for the Hollander at some point imo, it's a lovely heavy thing. Don't limit yourself to one translation, as different people translate things in different ways and have different opinions in their footnotes, and it's interesting to read a variety and see what you think.
There's "True Hearth" by James Allen Chisholm, which is short but concentrates most on practical things which you may find useful. This might have been the other one I recommended you, but honestly I can't remember. The other one I may have recommended is "Exploring the Northern Tradition" by Galina Krasskova, which is the first book on Asatru I read although now I'm not as much a fan of it, and rather recommend Paxson over her. Still, you may find it interesting.
"Our Troth" vol. I and II, edited by Kveldulf Gundarsson are big, rich books. The first is on lore and the second on practice. Very good, once you're done with the 101 books these are the ones you need on your shelf.
Hilda Ellis Davidson might be the most popular pure academic among Heathens. "Gods and Myths of Northern Europe" is the standard but she wrote quite a few. If you can get your hands on a copy of Road to Hel, it's worth a read.
For a bit more advanced stuff further down the line, Gundarsson's "Elves, Wights and Trolls" is brilliant.
If you're interested in runes, Paxson has a book called "Taking Up the Runes" that is a little esoteric but that I recommend. With it, S. Pollington's "Rudiments of Runelore" makes a good and more practical balance.

His work on runes I'm not really too fond of. It's far too esoteric for my tastes.... Paxson mentions his views in her work, so if you find them appealing in "Taking Up the Runes", you may want to seek them out. Not my thing, though. Overall he was quite interested in Ceremonial Magic when he was involved in Heathenry and that interest both in magic and in ceremonialism colours his work. (AFAIK he's no longer a Heathen and has joined the Temple of Set.) YMMV; you might enjoy him, but I'm not really a fan.

I have one of his books on magic. Actually first book I ever got on any religion besides Christianity. I like it but I know a few other Heathens either find him boring or say the same thing you say XD. I do have a book on runes but It's by Francis Melville. I find it quite interesting. I may take up runes at a later date though. I want to first learn Blots and Sumbels. I'm suppose to go to my first one in November.

Yeah, no reason to rush into runes. Um, gosh, a few years now. 4 or 5? I sort of eased myself into it from eclectic Paganism.
