History:



First record of "Romania" in Romanian was in 1521, a letter called, "Letter of Neacșu from Câmpulung" However Romania seems much older, because of the influence of Dacia, a province of the Roman Empire. However, Romania has had a cycle of conquering and losing through it's years. Uniting Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldavia, only to face the threat of the Ottoman Empire, which they were brought into by 1541. Under Ottoman rule, many of Romania's greatest leaders arose, including the infamous Vlad the Impaler, known for his brutality against Hungarians and Ottomans alike. As well as Michael the Great, who in 1600 ruled over Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldavia simultaneously. While Transylvania was under control of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the other two provinces were held under close examination by the Ottomans who gave the Romanians little rights. This led to a rebellion in Wallachia in 1821 and in 1848 more revolts rose. These revolts failed and it wasn't until after the Russo-Turkish War (of which the Romanians fought on the Russian side) that Romania was recognized as an independent state by the Ottomans and the Great Powers. The Kingdom of Romania was formed with Prince Carol I as its king. During WWI, Romania stayed neutral for the beginning, obeying a secret treaty called the Treaty of Bucharest stating that Romania would get lands with a Romanian majority from Austro-Hungary before joining the Entente Powers with the Austro-Hungarian Empire. WWI wasn't all that good for Romania, as the Central Powers controled two-thirds of the new country in a matter of months. After the war, Romania gained Transylvania back from the fallen Austro-Hungarian Empire. After WWI, the Kingdom of Romania became known as Greater Romania. The most land Romania had ever owned was during this time, as well as being the seventh-largest producer of oil in the world at this time. When WWII came around, Romania was caught in the middle of the two power players: Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. When faced with the Soviet threat, Romania joined the Axis Powers. During the Holocaust in Romania, it was more than just Jews being executed, but also its gypsy (Romani) population. In 1944, the country switched sides to the Allies. During this time, the Soviet Union took the territory from Romania that would come to be known today as Moldova. When the war ended, communists still ran the Romanian government. With much unrest, and demand for a democratic government among the people came to be the Romanian Revolution, the bloodiest revolution against communism with over a thousand people killed and over 3,000 injured. Nonetheless, this revolution was a success, Romania was no longer run by communists and had executed their king and became a democracy.

Romania is very flirty with a hint of mystery. Yet, still very charming but can sometimes be taken as creepy. He can also be very obsessive over detail. He's a prankster as well as a smooth-talker. However being such a romantic, he takes love very seriously. It's nothing to joke about, which often makes him the best secret keeper. Romania also likes the quiet, and spends a lot of time alone, either reading or just zoning out.
