Awwwwwwwww!!! Okay, marking this as one of the best compliments! Sorry this took so long... was deep, DEEP into GISHWHES madness. I don't know if you visited the website for this series but if you haven't, here it is: winchesternextgenerationseries…  Art, soundtracks (and musical score) and the whole works is over there. On the "About W:NGS" page you will read that there is no Sabriel. I recommend reading it to understand all the relationship dynamics. I wrote it with non-shippers in mind.

Thank you for getting back to me. And it's alright, you were doing GISHWHES which I have gotten into yet. No I haven't visited the website yet but I have visited your Tumblr page under Nicolemilligan. I really love the story idea and my dad thought it was awesome too. The non-shipping in mind didn't waver my opinion of the idea. Even if it was Destiel and Sabriel I still would've liked it. I have seen your story idea a few months ago but didn't really pay it mind but now that I've seen it it's amazing. Best storyline ever! I hope you write the story! And again thank you for writing back.

Awwww, thank you! Really do check the site out when you get the time. It will only amplify your love of it (I know that sounds like I'm selling it lol... but there is a ton of stuff there you haven't see I don't think... like the gif comparisons that will simply blow your MIND winchesternextgenerationseries… ). Also, the first two chapters are up already... you just go to the site's link for it here: winchesternextgenerationseries… . It will take you right to it. I'm in the middle of writing the back story chapter that has to happen before I can move forward. The pacing of the Series will have plenty of back stories which will be weaved into the main one. I love hearing feedback and I LOVE responding so not a problem at all! And THANK YOU again for all the kind words and passionate support. Reaaaally motivates me to give everyone interested in this project, my all.

I read the story and must I say I was giggling from excitement and joy the entire time. It was so very detailed and used many words I didn't understand but I didn't care because of how amazing it was. I also noticed when I was reading the end of chapter two Castiel and Dean shared a room. Then there's the conversation between Castiel and James. So I'm assuming there was a relationship of some sort between Dean and Cas. I'm not upset at that, though I'm not too fond of the Dean/Castiel ship, I find it makes the storyline much more complex than I imagined. And Pythia was a great add. I'm excited and anxious for the next chapter.
Also, if it's not too much of a bother, I'd really love it if you checked my stories and characters for my Supernatural stories. I have two different folders. One with a story already in it and another with characters for "in the works" story. I'd much apreciate you looking at the folders and again I can't wait to see the next chapter.

The motivation…

This project was initially inspired by a Tumblr prompt by TheSpyWhoSpys . Before I found her prompts I had already been working on an idea for a fic that was titled ‘Eden Lost’. It was a Destiel AU where I brought in an often neglected area of mythology. The mythology being that of the ancient Sumerians.

While wanting to stick with some of the old, I also wanted to create something completely new. Outside of Zecharia Sitchin , I don’t know of anyone else who has even attempted to use fiction as a way of revisiting Sumerian mythology. From the beginning I wanted to give the fic more of a scifi feel in this particular verse while exploring myth and magic- all with a post-desolation world as a backdrop.

Unfortunately, I kept running into plot problems. Why is that such a big deal? If anyone knows my writing you will already know the answer- I’m a different sort of fanfiction writer. Plot, character growth and world building are as important to me as the story I’m trying to tell or even the messages I’m trying to convey. I think that has to do with me being a storyteller first and foremost. As the author I once studied creative writing under said to me, “You are a fantastic storyteller and what you lack in what makes a novelist, you well make up for in the principles. You need to be writing screenplays!”

(So, since I don’t quite have what it takes to be a paid novelist, don’t know lick about script writing- nor can I see the stories I like to write having any screenplay value enough to learn, I simply started writing fanfiction. Now you know.  )

There were many reasons I was falling short on raising  ’Eden Lost’ from my imagination but then I found TheSpyWhoSpys  prompt and instantly all the problems were solved.

The plan from the beginning was to include Destiel, but as I envisioned this project I didn’t want Destiel to be the main focus. It is not what this story is about. So, I decided to exclude Destiel all together. After two months of writing notes in the process of developing the story, it became clear that excluding it was a greater sin. In an answer to a comment that was left on W:NGS I addressed my reasoning;

"I cut out Destiel & focused on just developing the story. I was midway through my notes (2 months worth mind you) when I realized, that I couldn’t tell this story w/o Destiel. Not because I just had to have my OTP, but instead it’s because the relationship- in the complex way in manifests itself- actually motivates one of the main messages I want to communicate with this fic. There will be a LOT of buildup & back story, so for those who have a hard time seeing the two of them in that context will have an adjustment period & it will make sense by the end (though I’m not going to promise I won’t rip the heart out of some Destielers in the posses :/ ). I’m working towards my PsyD in Psychology & my focus is on human sexuality… my career goal being to center my practice around Alternative Relationship & Family Counseling. Why I’m telling you this is so you know I won’t be pulling the relationship build from my butt & it is based on actual knowledge of human sexuality lol (& that shit’s COMPLEX lol). I guess what I’m trying to say is; my goal is to keep it REAL so that even though it can’t be seen show-wise (dangs them stuffy writers lol) by the end of this fic, people will at least get it."

As for Sabriel, it was never the intention of this fic either during the development process or after I began writing. I know this might be a downer for some people. As I explained in the same comment response;

"While Sam & Gabriel’s relationship is very deep & complex, it {Sabriel} wasn’t the tone I could see w/this. Their {Gabe & Sam} relationship is important to establish some point of codependent disconnect between Dean & Sam so that the brother’s relationship could ‘grow up’. The codependency we see on the show creates a stranglehold on character growth (thus is the reason for the cycling the show version of characters seem to be in and fans are starting to notice). I know this is my personal view point but I didn’t want that continuing w/this fic. Keywords for Gabe & Sam’s relationship will be ‘trust’ & ‘respect’. The key phrase will be, ‘being opposites can really bring out the best in people & bring out the best in friendships’. Their relationship won’t be completely angst free but it will be the ‘balance’ this fic will need."

One might argue that the same could have been done within the context of Sabriel, but I simply have other plans for Gabriel and Sam and have since the beginning. Just like the writers of the show keep saying they have to be true to the story they are trying to tell… it’s the same here. I completely understand how this might not go down well with some.

Another thing I want to make sure others understand as well- while Dean, Cas, Gabe and Sam all have their own story arcs, the main characters here are James and Henry. In the comment response I wrote;

"All of this is a backdrop to the story of James & Henry. I wanted "Next Generation" to mean something & that means keeping the main focus on James, Henry & the new characters I will be introducing. The beginning is going to be more about establishing the new ‘family’ dynamics (and establishing the original foursomes’ own story arcs). The purpose of which is to create a grounding effect- a way to root people to the story so that when I start shifting the focus to James, Henry & new characters it will be seamless. Readers will be more ready to receive & invest in them."

And yes, the bed was THEIRS... but that Dean has been dead for 6 years and this Dean has no memory of anything beyond a profound friendship. Castiel feels the needs to keep the knowledge quiet... get on with things as they are which will prove to be rather difficult and will cause some major issues with James as things progress. In Castiel's mind, the events that actually brought him and Dean to that cusp of profound friendship into something more, can never be repeated (yes, you will get a backstory about all of that as well.

One thing that might be helpful to remember is... this is an alternate version of canon. This backstory I'm writing will show how Metatron was mortally defeated, Dean never became a demon and Gabriel is still alive... so the paths diverge at that point. That might help some non-shippers along the way.
