I look at sites like Flickr, and I hear terms like HDR and PHOTOMATRIX. I don't know what that is, but I DO know that after I look at the photos people took they look amazing. SURREAL I guess you'd say. I've always wondered how it was done. I could show you a link as an example if you'd like.

I'm familiar with HDR. It stands for High Dynamic Range. Basically what's going on with that is a camera takes a series of shots of the same picture with varying exposures so that a greater dynamica range.(The highlights are brighter, and the shadows are darker.) I'm not really sure what PHOTOMATRIX is, but I'm pretty sure it goes along with the same idea. I think this tutorial might help you: [link]

Does the camera save all these shots for you singularly? Or does it calculate the best outcome and leave you with a single image?

I believe that some cameras have an HDR setting that might leave you with a single image, but usually you have to set the exposures and take the shots yourself.

Well I'm reading about this Photomatrix thing. And what it does in a nutshell is take all those exposures and merge them once you've taken them. What I want to know is how they get that SURREAL grainy look to them. It's really bright, and not pixelated but sort of grainy and vibrant. Almost like the sharpness is MAXED with no pixelization.

That's exactly what they do...they merge down all of the exposures, and that's what gives you that look you want.

Yeah I know....I talked to her on the phone about it this morning. She is really talented when it comes to writing and drawing, she wrote a short story once about a hippo and an egret(i believe don't quote me on the egret part) it might even be on her account.

Yeah we do. about 15 minutes away from each other by car. I was with her for 3 hours yesterday in her new car that she got for x-mas.(It's an awesome car too, but I'll make you read about it in her next journal, i don't want to steal her thunder.) We're hanging out later this afternoon too and I;m sleeping over at her house. Oh! and awww thanks! That's really sweet of you to say.
