No problem, that light painting photo deserves more than just 11 favorites. What kind of light source were you using?

No problem. I love your gallery . I have a question though; how good/efficient is the Nikon D5100 in-camera HDR? I gave it a try a couple of times but it never really worked, I don't get that "HDR" look, you know.

Thank you.
HDR is under Menu > Shooting Menu > HDR (high dynamic range). You have to enable it after every shot though =/, which is kind of frustrating; you can assign it to the function button.

I think it can only be enabled on the M, A, S and P modes. Try to change the mode and see what happens.

Welcome to dA, and thanks for the
I forgot to mention in the forums that a number of the macro photographs in my gallery were taken with a Nikon AF-S 60mm f/2.8 Micro lens if you were looking for samples.

Thanks . I've been on the site for some time; this is my second account (created after buying my first DSLR and closed the first account).
Hey I noticed you use Photoshop Elements to edit your photos. Is it really necessary for someone to edit the photos after taking them? I'm starting to feel like it's a mandatory thing. I'm not against it, I know it produces breath-taking photos given the correct editing; but in a way, I don't feel the photo is "original" you know, it's "edited".

I edit photos for two reasons: to make the camera's result a better representation of what I saw myself, or to achieve a specific effect. It's fairly obvious when I do the latter, which is much less often than the former. Digital cameras are designed to take low contrast, lower-saturated images to ensure that all the information is captured: they are designed to require some editing, just like film photos required adjustments when printing. I use Pse to edit, but it general, it's a slight adjustment of color or saturation (I now shoot almost exclusively in RAW, so there's a bunch of that), or correction of some lens issue. I try to keep stuff as "original" as possible.

Yeah I've been trying to use CS5 to edit some photos I took, but I try to keep the editing to as minimum as possible. I'm not really that good at it either, I just play around with the sliders , but I'll be checking out some tips on the internet.
