# About me

Hello world. So I'm Andrew, and I have enjoyed drawing for as long as I could remember. I was born and raised in New York and am currently here now. Drawing started off as a hobby mostly up until time to pick a high school to attend. Feeling like such a virgin to the outside world growing up in a fairly close minded home, I managed to settle at The High School of Art & Design. There I chose Cartooning and Animation as my "major" and while I enjoyed the experience, I regret heavily not choosing Illustration. The Cartooning department did teach me a little, but a fair amount of it I had learned beforehand through books, a few free classes here and there and videos. What I felt did hurt me while being in the major was that I enjoyed a realistic style of cartoons and while they did show some examples to us to an extent, there were almost no lessons on proportions and anatomy(the real stuff, not comic style, but hey I guess that's to be expected given the major I chose...).

Anyways, I drew some here and there throughout high school and noticed that I was improving due to the consistency of drawing something, anything. When the time came to pick colleges, there was a representative that came to our school all the way from Florida. She caught my attention given what she had said about the school and the resources that would follow so I was sold for the most part. The college was Digital Media Arts College in Boca Raton. Beginning to find myself for who I am at the time only made me want to go away even more. As I mentioned before, I grew up in a home that was ignorant about many things, one obvious one I would assume, was on homosexuality. I hadn't come out to my family at the time and I had no intention of doing so anytime soon at the time either. My goal was to pack up and go to FL when the time came to start college and just start a new life. Long story short, it did become that way for a while but the cost of living there caught up to me a year after living there.

The college was ok to be honest, though I'd be lying if I said I was very satisfied. I had a great time though meeting new people, living in another state alone, and having such amazing roommates that are now my second family. There were no dorms so we had to live in our own housing. But anyways, around November in 2012, I came out to my mom..through text...I had kept in touch for the time that I was in FL mainly because if I needed some financial help, they could spare a little even though I knew money was very tight back home(father was on disability, and the cost of living in NY wasn't getting any cheaper). It was National Coming Out Day and while I'm the type of person that doesn't follow these kinds of things, I just felt I should do it because I had delayed it for so long and it's one of those things where you know you can't run away from forever. I was still too afraid to call and say it so I sent a text. I didn't hear back from her until the day after, but she's the type to pretty much answer back within an hour if she's busy so I knew it wasn't taken lightly. To my surprise she didn't seem upset or sound like she didn't want anything to do with me but said she'd love me no matter what(currently it's a slippery slope and uncomfortable and not in a funny awkward way). But yeah, after that was all said and done(I called) it came time to move back to NY.

I'll spare the details, but it was just that I wasn't financially prepared to stay there for much longer and would eventually get kicked out of where I lived. So I've been back in NY since January 18th of 2013(I will always remember this date) and have been working at my old job since to pay what I owe and am working on going back to school this year.

I draw on my own time now and try to do it consistently, though that's overly ambitious for me right now haha. I have a story though that is in progress that I am going to make happen in the future. I made this account a while ago but have strayed away(not sure why) and just recently I felt like I should just start being active and whatnot. As you'll notice, many of the drawings I'll be uploading is relatively old and I apologize for that. I will be putting out recent stuff though and as frequently as I can if I can find the time and/or have the inspiration to do so.

I'm sorry for the length of this and I thank you sincerely if you spent the time to read through this. I don't think I ever really put anything about myself like this to the public and I felt like now is a good a time as ever to stop going by completely unnoticed. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

Peace

Overall, you have a fantastic gallery with loads of very cool designs. I really really like your color choices in just about all of your pieces.

My only critique, unless its entirely intentional as your own style, would be the "hard" coloring. Even with it, your work pops and brings in the viewer, but for me personally, I think you'd draw in an even bigger audience if you smoothed out the brush strokes. That's just personal taste though because nonetheless, your art is still amazing!

Of course, no problem. And like I said, that's all up to you. I noticed that it was intentional so at the end of the day its what you want it to look like πŸ‘

No problem, I'm sorry too in advance if I go a few days without replying. I'll try to remind myself to upload something later today haha. And same here, I tend to sleep more in the day and just stay up all night
