Hey, thanks! I had pretty typical challenges (low- almost no- budget, small space & lots of text), but I think it came out okay. Let me know if & when you post your final, I'd love to see it.

Came out ok??? What are you talking about it looks great! I will let you know, I actually just sat down to work on the 2nd draft of it, they did not think the 1st one would fit the theme in the dinning room.

Thanks If you want some input, I'd be glad to help. I think we graphic designers are gluttons for punishment- when clients shoot down our ideas, we say "thank you sir, may I have another?"! I thrive on it!

That would be great! I just made a design and they rejected it for the menu in the restaurant however, they liked it and now they have me doing that one for the tiki bar outside so I guess I didn't loose that battle.... lol!
I'm haveing a little bit of a issue coming up with a design on the restaraunt menu though. The establishment is on a beach, however they are looking for a more modern look but they do not like anything to crazy. I'm trying to come up with some ideas, if you have anything you would like to share, it would be well appriciated.
Also thank you for your offering your help!

Hey, that's awesome! Score one for the designer Great job.
Not sure why, but when I read your description of the restaraunt (beachfront locale, modern...), I thought of an art deco style. It's clean and airy, and, if you choose your color palette carefully, can also be modern.
Do you have any accounts with stock photo suppliers? I personally like iStock Photo. When I find it difficult to pull together layout or theme ideas, I like to just browse the images on their site. It's a great thing to do for inspiration. There's also this great book called "Graphically Speaking" by a lady named Lisa Buchanan. A designer friend of mine swears by it. It helps streamline your client meetings so you can get a better idea of what they're really hoping to achieve (what types of questions to ask, style selection & reason behind it, etc.).

Well, thank you, thank you!
Now that is exactly what I was going for, a art deco style on this design. However they are not to art inclined which puts quite a burden on me at times, because I do a lot of work for them and they like to keep it simple and smash a bunch of information all over everything and it takes away from the design, most of the time. They have a idea in their heads but for some reason they don't like to tell me what that idea is, they are very vauge when it comes to design or they know exactly what they want and I have no room for my personal design. As I say anything to keep the client happy!
If you look at some of the flyers in my gallery that I have done for this place, I'm sure you will see what I mean along the lines of my style and the ones they have overpowered their ideas on.
About the stock photo site, if you check out SXC.HU/HOME.COM they have a bunch of stock photo and there is tons and tones of free ones with great quality and good sizes, also you can pay for some of the other ones, however 9 out of 10 times I find what I'm looking for, for just a shout out on my webpage and DeviantArt.
Thanks again man for your help, It's awesome that people like you are out there with that willingness to help people. If everyone out there was more like you out there, this world would be a great place! I'm adding you to my watch list, your the shit!

[link] (Crap, I can't get the address to link)!!! Check out the second poster from the top ("Dubonnet"). If you could find something similiar, you can repeat the shapes throughout the menu to pull everything together.
I see what you men when you say their ideas overpower yours- anything to keep the client happy (my motto, too). I've personally found, though, that if you work with someone long enough, they unknowingly start to allow your style to seep into their ads (or whatever it is you're doing for them)- no matter how hard-headed they may be. You just keep doing what you're doing, and don't change your style. It will shine through.
Thanks for the stock photo info- I'll definitely check it out. I've gotten a small library over the past few years- mostly of old rich folks sitting inside their beautiful new homes. If you need anything, I'd be glad to forward them along. Too bad I don't have any of old rich folks sitting in a beachfront restaraunt, eh? Oh, and if you DO want anything from iStock, I have some coupons that I got out of some Avery binders- 20 free images. Let me know.
I'm glad to help. Our business is SO slow right now. And I have to keep designing or I'll lose my sanity! Thanks for the compliments- and keep your chin up.

Thanks again, for eveything!
