I loved your Red Riding Hood cosplay at AE! I was Edward with May I ask what materials you used to make the accessories on the hat of the Big Bad Wolf?

ADJalbert In reply to bluekoinu [2010-08-18 05:40:16 +0000 UTC]

I used Sculpey (Modeling Clay) mostly, well that and rbon and feathers.

bluekoinu In reply to ADJalbert [2010-08-18 06:56:22 +0000 UTC]

Cool, I never would have thought of using my sculpey for more than maquettes or beads. What do put on it to prevent chipping?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ADJalbert In reply to bluekoinu [2010-08-19 17:32:00 +0000 UTC]

To stop the sculpey from chipping not much, I just wait until the clay turns a slight brown color before removing it from the oven.

As for the paint I put on it, I like to cover everything with a fine layer of industrial glue, it dries clear and it holds everything together. It also makes metalic paints look tarnished or used.

bluekoinu In reply to ADJalbert [2010-08-19 19:19:17 +0000 UTC]

Industrial glue? I've never heard of that. What brand and where would I find it? Do you put the glue on before any priming?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ADJalbert In reply to bluekoinu [2010-08-22 05:04:46 +0000 UTC]

Any warehouse store will carry it. Normally it’s right by the spray paints in a large cylinder white bottle with a red cap. I just take an old paintbrush and cover the entire painted surface with it once everything is done. It takes a little bit of time to dry but when it does it gives everything a nice shine. I hope that helps a bit.

Have you decided who you are cosplaying as next year?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ADJalbert In reply to AndraFriend [2009-07-30 14:07:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes I'll be going as Serenade from Eternal Sonata, I like the challenge her dress offers.
How about yourself? Any costumes planned?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AndraFriend In reply to ADJalbert [2009-07-30 22:44:52 +0000 UTC]

Her costume looks challenging, but very pretty, Im sure you'll pull it off! I'm going as Lady from Devil May Cry 3. Her weapon will give me a hard time, but I have lots of time to make it.

YokoSC [2009-07-28 06:28:57 +0000 UTC]

wait then... super sculpey.. oh! then you just make green ware then to glaze? where do you make them? do you have your own burner or you just use an oven?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ADJalbert In reply to YokoSC [2009-07-29 15:27:55 +0000 UTC]

I found out the hard way that gas ovens make the Sculpey Bubble and Melt so I went out and got one of those small toaster ovens. It really works well since all my jewlery peices are smaller. Plus one of the upsides with Sulpey is tat it doesn't take at long as clay to cook in a kiln, nor is Sculpey as britle, that stuff can really hold it's own against numerous glomps.
