Last night i decided (perhaps mistakenly) to join a thread about censoring Deviations,run by someone who argued that EVERTHING on DA is art and that we should all be more tolerant.
I mentioned about my poem being pulled after only 1 person complaned,and made a point of saying that they hadn't left a critisism in my comments box. At least 3 people attempted to reply to me but were blocked from doing so by having their coments hidden by owner.I thought this more than a little ironic.They could have disagreed or insulted me,i don't care,i wouldn't take it personally,i'll never know either way now.

I would argue that everything is art too. It just depend what you're looking for. As a non-dA example, I'd say I don't like slasher movies, yet I can say that Freddy vs. Jason was a great movie as long as you're expecting a slasher movie. You can't compare that to a drama or a comedie or a war movie, it just doesn't work. Like porn, can't compare that to fashion and say one's better than the other. If you don't like porn, you don't like porn. If you don't like having incredible people try to set style, don't listen to them.

I think the reason he was blocking comments is that he's a bitter idiot who had his fanfic deleted.As far as i can gather his fic MORE than bordered on child porn,featuring under age characters engaged in sex!Which is against the rules here.
However there is a lot of that going on here and there's some awfull stuff that needs sorting out.Harry Potter explicit bondage is one of the worst offenders,these are kids for gosh sakes,there is no love in these pictures.
Not everything is art,a photo of an unwashed photo-shopped cock is what it is and only that.But i have a big problem with photos full stop,photos of anything.But this is simply MY predjudice.I have put up photos,they are not art and are not meant to be,they're just for fun.I tend to ignore many of the "artistic nudes" on DA,many are very beautiful,but there are some that only belong in the pages of "Readers Wives".Sometimes a lady should put away her saggy ham wallet,no -one needs to be subjected to that,just because her boyfriend likes it ,does it mean we all should,some things should be private between lovers,otherwise it is simply arrogant exibitionism.But that's what DA is for,exibiting yourself to a wide audience,i would question the motives of some people,but it doesn't mean i'll run off and report them.

I totally agree that anything bordering on child porn should be banned, but I don't beleive that's censorship because it's a crime and to me that totally different.
Concerning personal non-artistic pictures... well I tend to see them as art too, but of its own genre.
Finally, those awful looking nudes are welcome as far as I'm concerned. If somebody wants to expose that, it's their business, but you can be sure I'll never see them or come close to seeing the possibility of their shadow! LOL

I wouldn't want MY photos to be considered as art,not in any sense of the word.It would be a gross insult to true craftsmanship,hard work and study by a real artisan.Any fool can take a snap.
But as a bit of mindless fun they are perfectly acceptable.
