Description "...Being alone, and conscious two yards of loose earth was the sole barrier between us, I said to myself--'I'll have her in my arms again! If she be cold, I'll think it is this north wind that chills me; and if she be motionless, it is sleep.' I got a spade from the tool house, and began to delve with all my might--it scraped the coffin; I fell to work with my hands; the wood commenced crackling about the screws; I was on the point of attaining my object, when it seemed that I heard a sigh from someone above, close at the edge of the grave, and bending down. 'If I can only get this off,' I muttered, 'I wish they may shovel in the earth over us both.'"
-Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights

I made this sculpture for my Visual Culture class. It is made out of the actual book, Wuthering Heights, and Catherine is embellished with pieces of raw steak. A little gruesome, but it adds depth I think.
It was presented like a diorama, in a black box with a light in the back (shining through the moon and stars) and the section from the book is ripped out and glued on the top. It's the top right part in the picture. The little piece of paper identifying the project was pinned up above it. And the bottom image is a closeup on Heathcliff and Catherine.
