I'm amazed by this photo, how exactly was it taken? I always enjoy lightening photography in my spare time, but it's a split second where you either catch it or you don't. I was even thinking of taking a video and then cropping parts out but that would make the quality real bad. If only there was the mode where the camera takes a picture by itself when exposed to such strong light.

Set it up on my tripod, did some check exposures then started shooting, adjusting the exposure as needed to ensure it wasn't over exposed. It was incredibly difficult because each strike of lightning was a different light value. I did much of it by sense in bulb mode. But you have to have the shutter open before the lightning hits then close it when you think you've gotten it and enough light. Its not skill if the camera does everything... But there are jerry rigs people have made to get their camera to go off when a large flash happens...
