Blue skies. Check. Ocean. Check. Bikini. Check. Legs. Check.Everything had finally come together, well mainly the legs, that is. The upgraded walkers had seen an almost unending list of technical and production delays-- colloidal suspensions wouldn't suspend, nano-fibres couldn't be found, and the controllers were out of control. All that was past, though; she was back on a pair of feet and, better yet, on vacation! Maybe not exactly 'vacation,' but what else do you do for prototype field testing in a hot, corrosive environment other than go to the beach?

Is it just me or have you changed how you color your works?
I like the water here. I think I can see how you ended up doing it. Looks like a lot of layers, gradients, and dodge! Am I close?

It hasn't changed that much, just trying to be a little smoother. Also colored the line art; partially torn on that though. I like the clean look of plain black lines, but colored ones soften and brighten the image somewhat.
The water is actually only 2 layers, the splash that over laps her legs and then the background. Most of it is done just with selections and airbrushing.

A little smoother? You mean on how you're coloring intercepts itself? Yeah, I noticed you colored the line art. I personally use black lines. On this piece of mine for instance: [link]
The coloring is getting rather realistic but I still have the lines on there. I think it's starting to clash with the coloring so I might change that up. I would really only lose the black lines if you want to give your art more realism. I have the problem that I can't get my line art to look realistic enough to take it away. Have you given thought to just getting rid of the lines altogether?
Oooh, I get it. Selections, very clever. Works really well here. Does it work well with water that's large and/or in the distance?

Very lovely. It took me a moment before I realized that this was the same girl from "Short Handed". I love the way you depicted her artificial limbs - there's something stylishly practical about that smooth, black, latex-like covering. The bright colors and the girl's own exuberant expression offer a delightful contrast to the more melancholic and frustrated mood of the earlier black-and-white piece.
She certainly looks like she's having fun.
