shot this photo (with real film and my macro lens!) 13 years ago in the creek behind my house in the mountains of idaho. it had been snowing, and was a dark, dreary day. my wolf hybrid ookami started barking and baying, so i ran with difficulty through the 3 foot deep snow and brush to where she was standing on the creek's bank, cowing these poor elk. i dragged ookami back home, grabbed my camera, then struggled through the snow again back to the elk, who had waited most patiently for my return. i was wearing knee high water proof snow boots, so stood IN the water with them, only feet away. at the time, i had no idea elk could attack, and, luckily, these didn't. i'm pretty sure this was a mama and one or two of her babies.hmm... i wanted to allow the dA copyright mark, but i guess you have to have a paid account?
won 2nd place in an idaho earth day photo contest, plus a poster designer used this shot and a couple of my other wilderness pics in a poster design to advertise "Idaho Is Wild" to tourists

A great capture. I don't think you need to be subscribed to use the DA watermark but it is big and ugly. You should make your own watermark instead I think

regarding the dA watermark, it's completely grayed out. every time i post it's not clickable. so... gotta be only available for subscribers.

Do you use photoshop? You just have to go to layer, create new layer and that's it

yeah, i do use photoshop, but of course, one has to figure out what to do with that layer once one creates it. i know it should be simple, but i just have a hard time with it. don't worry, though, i've got a very nice book about photoshop techniques. i just have to read through it

gunt fell in the creek, lulu in a frozen pond, and wolf not at all - he was smart
they're all fine, though gunt has some scrapes and bruises. i suspect lulu has some too, but she ain't talking

Yeah but at the top if you hit the EDIT DEVIATION link ...is it still not functioning?...it's the first checkmark box under the sizing options...i have never seen anything greyed out on the submit page

well.. i have to admit i have some family members in ohio with the same family name, so we've always paid extra attention our long lost cousin jack
i dunno what you mean exactly - you mean AFTER you submit, click on SUBMIT POST (or whatever), look at the picture in your gallery, then go back and hit "EDIT DEVIATION"? because i still can't do it with any other deviations. but i'll go poke around some more in there.. see if i can see what you mean.

During the submission process ..AFTER you have added a file and the file fully loads in ( in the little preview box thing )... 3 things should pop up and appear under it ..
a FULLSIZE dropdown slot to choose the size it is displayed at....next is a CHECKBOX that allows you to add a watermark or not and the last is a checkbox to allow download of the original in the full size res you are uploading or not.
On any existing artwork you have already uploaded you can go to it ( the page) and hit the EDIT DEVIATION link to REVISIT the submission page for that work ....the checkmark box SHOULD be there unchecked and all you have to do is check it.
If it is not there ...or the option does not appear after a new file loads in ... then it must be that non subscribers cannot watermark ...but THAT is just totally wrong and borders on criminal... i am hoping it is just user error

ok that's dismal ... i have to ask some other non subbers and see what's going on ...
well you can add your own water mark of any design by just making a seperate layer in PS ...writing whatever you want on it ( like Zasu Hannah Elk Cornerer Extraordinaire ) and ghosting it by lowering the transparency
Once in edit mode AT a particular deviation...you can upload the same pic with your own WM on it ( change file ) without ruining the comments or tallies.
