Description Now I know why nobody does fanart for these things...

I couldn't find a nice, clear shot of this tank! In all the episodes, the video quality is either too low to make out the details, or the tank is too far away to see clearly. I had to rely on looking at various closeups on certain parts of the tank to piece this together- the episodes I made reference to were 'The Northern Air Temple', 'The Siege of the North part 2' and 'The Cave of Two Lovers'.

However, I believe I have finally managed to piece together a fairly accurate drawing of this tank. Note the ladder on the side of the rectangular middle portion that rotates .

Also- there's a pressure gauge on one of the large cylindrical bits in front of the tank. I suspect that both the cylindrical parts in the front AND the back contain water, as part of that counterbalancing system that Teo mentioned. When Katara said: "Can you get me close to one?" I think the idea was that she bended the water INSIDE the tank, but due to the difficulty in animating that, they just had her defeat the tank in a more conventional way, which seems kinda silly because she didn't need that information about water being in the counterbalancing system to do what she did.

This Fire Nation Tank looks like it's somewhat based off of the Soviet BTR-80 Armored Vehicle

Thank you X3

The BTR-80 was a Soviet Armored Personnel Carrier that was made during the 1970s by Russia, that vehicle saw a lot of action in Afghanistan during the 1980s. The fire Nation and the Soviet Union have a lot in common,... there both evil X3

Definately worth watching. It's an older one - from the 80's?

Hehe- I think part of the reason why I made this was just because you said I'm good at drawing mechanical things . Thanks!

ultrapunk [2007-02-25 07:40:36 +0000 UTC]

Excellent detail as always, this one take you awhile i presume?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

z00tz00t In reply to ultrapunk [2007-02-25 12:54:57 +0000 UTC]

Actually, drawing the details isn't the difficult part- it's working out HOW it looks like in the first place! It'd be like:

*draws the front bit* while working from a screenshot.

*finds a BETTER screenshot in another episode*

*re-does the front bit of the tank, and subsequently has to modify the rest as a result*

THAT'S the killer. But now that I've produced this 'master copy', so to speak, I can draw a second one a LOT faster .

z00tz00t In reply to TinyYellowMouse [2007-02-25 04:22:27 +0000 UTC]

Hehe- thanks! I probably won't draw this level of detail unless absolutely necessary anymore, but I find it's easier to draw a simplified version of something once you 'understand' it's design .

z00tz00t In reply to shibamura-prime [2007-02-25 02:34:53 +0000 UTC]

I was actually already going to have this transform into something- that's why I had spent so much time working out the details .

But Blitzwing is a triple-changer, and it's gonna be kinda hard transforming THIS into something else . So for the time being, I was thinking of making this guy Bonecrusher .

I forgot to mention that Bonecrusher's going to be in the upcoming Transformers movie, but he doesn't combine with anyone....he's just a badass robot in his own right . Or maybe I'll make it into Brawl, since in the movie, he's also a tank .

I like the decal on Bonecrusher's door.

Though, my fav design has gotta go to Barricade. And this is coming from an Autobot guy. ^_^

Me and my brother were recently talking about favourite transformers, and all I could come up with were Decepticons . Alot of the Autobots just don't seem 'cool' to me . So far, I think that Bonecrusher and Blackout are in the lead for most awesomely awesome looking robot ^_^. I actually tried doing movie megatron fanart the other day, but quickly went insane, tore the paper to shreds, burned it to ashes, then ate it.

WEll, I rented ther first disc of Book 1. At least, that's how it was represented by Blockbuster. BUt I got home and it was disc 2 of Book 1. So that was a pain. I'll go back and sort it out though.
