And here we have the two heroines (or at least, one heroine and her sillier sibling) of Christina Rossetti's 'Goblin Market' - Lizzie (the brunette) and Laura (the blonde), continuing the work on my project to contemporise the Victorian 'Children's Poem'.Laura is the sister who falls for the Goblins' glamour and consumes the fruit, buying it with a lock of her golden curls and sealing both the deal and, were it not for her sister's wits, her fate also. Lizzie is covered in fruit juice and pulpy bits as she's been attacked by the Goblins for attempting to buy fruit for the ailing Laura with mortal coin (they accepted a lock of Laura's golden curls in the first place).
They're surrounded by fairies in this pic as I wanted to add a few more other-worldly fey elements to the illustrations and some nasty naked little bug-girls seemed to fit the bill.

ahh the evil nude fairies return and they look great! Lovely character designs, the expressions are well captured and high lights and low lights in Laura's hair look amazing, but trust a blonde to get into trouble

Depends. Perhaps you were the sort of kid who'd savour the adventures having a mischievous and wicked pet no one but you could see that got you into ever increasingly bad situations till you ended up in prison for crimes against humanity wondering where it all went wrong while that foul and frightful fairy laughed her buggy little butt off.

*thinks* ..yes...yes I think it all worked out for the best.
But just think of how interesting it would have been if i'd ended up in prison ( for crimes i didn't commit ) and had the wicked fairy with me. I'd be the talk of the prison what with me talking to things that aren't really there and causing things to happen as if by magic. pretty soon I'd find myself the most feared prisoner and have my own little group of loyal followers ( who will all be terrified of me of course )
Sure I'd probably spend the rest of my life in prison and constantly be blamed for things I never did but for those years when Im locked away in prison...life would be good.

Thankyou! I feel fairies could be just about any colour they desire. But they're still horrid little bug-girls, regardless of how pretty they seem.
