Description
The Hummingbird and the Empress. A set with the Shepherd and the Hunter ( [link] ).The mountain land, once thriving, is slowly dying away. From a tiny village at the furthest reaches of the kingdom, a girl named Hummingbird begins a journey to the Empress's city, determined to find out why.
I'm... actually really excited about this comic-idea, guys....

I'm a filmmaker- there are soo many screenplays you can write off this one picture, as well as parallels to warrior and Shepard!!!

Ooh... nice and imposing design for the Empress there! There's a lot of suggestion of mystery in the way that hair falls forward, it's awesome!

I... am not sure yet. I hope to get started relatively soon, like over the summer - but I want to get everything properly scripted first, or at least have a very solid plan for the story, if not a finalized script.
I might actually fling some ideas at you...? Because you're my Comics Lady of Light...? And the story is turning out to be largely allegorical, so I need to know if it makes sense......? If that's okay...........? iloveyouaugh

I like that Hummingbird has a teensy halo. It adds to her overall cuteness somehow, haha.

Hummingbird is fun to draw, though I haven't quite gotten comfortable drawing her moving about yet (it's her round rock-cloak, I can't figure out what sorts of shapes it wants to settle into, mrghsmph). But I'm glad you think she's cute!

BUH, I keep meaning to reply to this but I just giggle and then get distracted by things like ink. I'm rubbish with commenting on time. You should really draw Hummingbird more, though, and shows us the lovely results (so I might then take idle time to draw the cute dear)!

I-I'm glad you're excited! We'll have to see if this idea even gets off the ground, but for now, I'm having fun working out what the story could be.
They do have the same design behind them! I might redesign it, or give them different ones, or give EVERYBODY different ones - not quite sure, yet. We'll see.

^__^ Ahhh, I really hope it does!! It'll just be so beautiful to see all of these characters in action. There's just something about seeing still designs start to move in a manga comic...obvious not as much as they'd move if they were animated, but it's still amazing how much life that pours into them.

Yeah, I do love comics. They're such a wonderful marriage of literary storytelling and pure visual art. 
About the halo-designs I'm not sure yet! I wasn't planning on creating a story around the characters while I was designing them, so the halo-things didn't really have any special significance to them. As I refine/finalize the designs, stuff gets tweaked, so the halos might stay in or out, or the patterns might change, etc, depending on how the story shapes up.
