Cale realizes that the internet holds vast amounts of information already at her disposal. She changes her action plan, jumping into an intangible world, the Internet. There, Cale witnesses both past events and the prospects of the future. She is astounded. She wanders through the Internet witnessing experiences through archived websites and traveling through images that serve as portals. All the while, she is running away from a variety of “Eaters,” known in our world as hackers, leechers, and viruses that encrypt and destroy memories and data. Along the way, Cale meets another drifter. Feeling awfully lonely in this new world, she takes her on her journey, not realizing that her new mentee is just a beginner and a burden.
