Artwork by W.H. Ellam for Tuck's
Based on a humor book that was popular at the time.
Mr. Caudle habitually comes to bed late. His wife harangues him about this nightly.
About the artist:
English visual artist and sculptor William Henry Ellam put all sorts of animals, like giraffes, frogs, and elephants into human situations, like his silly series for Raphael Tuck & Sons showing animal couples having “Breakfast in Bed” and his novelty puzzle series. He is also known for painting dryly humorous romance scenes and women's suffrage cards.
