Description Finished the first sketch! Zal (and an overly bright Simurgh) from Shahnama of Shah Firdausi (and Shahnama of Shah Tamasip) for

Em... I hope he's ok? Kind of hard to think of a guy who looks like an ugly baldie in the old masters' miniatures. (I actually wanted to show you all the original pic, but I was afraid my already shedding manuscript would totally fall apart So go look up Zal yourself!)

Eh.... actually, he looks like meh Oghma and Fenrir combined together (and looking like in an incredibly bad mood for some reason [pen slipped!]) >.<

Random Zal info: Zal was the son of the great paladin Sam, but since he was born an albino, Sam, believing him to be a curse from the devil (or Ahriman) left him to die on a mountain's peak. There Zal was raised by the great bird Simurgh, and finally when he was all big and proper (and bishie XD) his stupid father came trotting back to reclaim him. Naturally, Zal became one of the greatest heros of Persia.

(Silly description, I know. XD You all can go and read one of the Shahnama's for the full story. )

Em... I really do hope you like it.

(Zal (c) .... there weren't any copyrights more than 500 years before, neh? )

A small part of this legend reminds me of the Hijo de la Luna song o_o the father abandoning his albino son on a mountain because he thinks it's not his child oO

and this is just a sketch? Your sketches are awesomely clean and inked I have to say It's great to see how much care and detail you put into something like this as well (and I still can't decide who I'd like you to draw for me is my spot still open at all? XD)

I love the idea of making parts of this picture just black inks and the rest in rainbow colors!

Actually.... now that you mention it, it does sound a bit like Hijo de la Luna, atleast that part. In the Shahnama, Zal's story goes on and on (and then his son's and after that his grandson's! XD)

I declared it a sketch since usually this is the state most of my pics are in just before I fill them in with markers or so. And yip, your spot is most definately open! I think I've just gotten 6 or so requests so far? And even if the others had asked already, you did mark your place in the request slot! XD

I love it to bits! (just a sketch 'eh? ) Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!

And there be a bonus Simurgh too! I love the 'overly brightness'(looks fine to me, really fine), he's SO well drawn! the flow of the lines and colors, capture the Simurgh-ness really really really well!

Zal's perrrrfect! I love the detailing on the costume and accessories. And the hair No more baldie ugly manuscript-ness. He doesn't seem to be in a bad mood... serious is more like it. I like both Oghma and Fenrir so any resemblance to the two doesn't hurt at all ^_~

Overall, its a beautiful and unique sketch(?)I just can't stop drooling over the beautiful line art, and stylization. The fusion of miniaturistic elements makes it so very different and original from most of the stuff out there! You should do more 'sketches' like these! I doubt there are many people who can do stuff like this (how much time did this take you :3 )

I have your sketch done as well, but I won't be able to scan it anytime soon @_@.

Weeelll... technically its just a sketch. I just changed pens and that made it more... colorful. XD Surprisingly, it just took something around 5 - 6 hours? (Kweh... forgot to mention in the description) 5-6 hours is quick for me... -.-' Ofcourse, then there weird anatomy disproportionate-ness also pops up!

I was actually reaaaally confused about what to make him wear. I wanted all ornate armours and high necked coats and stuffs, buuuuuut... welp, he was wearing these sort of clothes when waiting for Mehrab? *ish trying to be all proper and somewhat true to the baldie originals XD*

Mweh... how I love outcast Albino royalty too! (actually how I love all sorts of ancient royalties! *feels like drawing Sun Ce now* )

You fret too much over these matters, I love everything just as it is! And maybe it's better if I'm not reminded of the baldie originals...

5-6 hours isn't slow for this at all! ...hehe and you're right about ancient royalties

Glad you liked Zal and his 'mother'. I was originally very unsure about using all the colors in the Simurgh though. I was afraid she would look like an icky rainbow...
