So, for Mer-May 2018.He actually started out as Triton (son of Poseidon) but early on he reminded me of a fantasy short story I wrote a very long time ago about the ancient Minoans being mer-people (since Minos' earthly father was Asterios, a character often considered a local sea-god), and then he sort of evolved into this angler-fish-weirdo merman...
As always, done on my ClipStudioPaint Pro with my Wacom tablet.

The dark mood of this painting speaks to me. I love those tone in tone pieces. The feeling of an underwater cave is right there. The highlights on his trident, arm, Hand, pendant and eyes guide my eyes through the painting. A wonderful effect. (and I really love the detail of the swarming fish beyond the cave entrance.

Wow!!! He's so darn hot! I love the texture of his tail, and his hair reminds me of snales floating in the water. He looks wonderfully creepy!

Yeah, I didn't want to give him scales (like on most fish) because I thought he'd have more of a dolphin-like texture on his tail. And while drawing his hair, I kept thinking about Medusa.
