Montserrat is a British overseas territory located in the Leeward islands, part of the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies.
Montserrat's Georgian era historic capital city of Plymouth was destroyed and two-thirds of the island's population was forced
to flee because of an eruption of previously dormant Soufriere Hills volcano began in July 1995.

There is still the 'exclusion zone' imposed and the capital was moved to the new town at Little Bay in the north.
There is a movement actively campaigning for the removal of 'British colonial' shackles since 1990.
Area: 102 sq km
Pop : 5.900 mostly West African origin
