“Hmm? Sorry, I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm a bit out of it today — what did you say, again?"
The colouring was quite challenging for this piece, with all three Fungi presenting unique cold colour pallets that clashed with Layla’s own.
The solution was to alter the Fungi’s palettes a LOT, significantly softening the Dendro one, and making the Anemo Fungi far less turquoise, to the point that it almost matches the Hydro Fungi on the other side.
I also employed a pretty cool gradient down the length of the piece, going from deep purple (at the top) to a lighter green (at the bottom), This just so happens to play with the Fungi’s arrangement really well :3
I’m not usually a massive fan of the sleepyhead sort of personality, but I find Layla quite endearing and definitely have a soft spot for her. I certainly resonate with the anxious & sleep-deprived aspect of her persona XD
(Also, reading through her lore, it’s super cute how she finds her vision!)
