— Story (I’m going to put in a warning ⚠️ just in case this may be to “depressing”? I don’t want to trigger anyone, although I’m not sure if there is anything to be triggered by) -

I started to struggle walking through the thick, crunchy snow. I didn’t look back… I didn’t want to, there were to many memories of the past that I didn’t want to remember, to much destruction, to much sadness. I kept looking forward, to the future, back towards my family, my mother and brother had already migrated out of the mountain pass now I needed to do the same. They were waiting for me, right? They had to, they have to be alright. The elders said that this winter has been the worst winter they’ve ever seen. This is my third winter and I hope I can see the next one.

I heard a sound in front of me and stopped. What was it? What could it be? Could it be a predator? Another stallion? I stood there holding my breath, waiting, waiting for something to reveal itself from the trees but nothing came. I waited a few more minutes before I took another step, one more step towards freedom, to my home, to my family.
