Funny thing is, now I know what the feather option does.The pose reminds of the Visa pidgeon.

Nah, this is manipulated. I took the picture outdoors, and used photoshop to make the BG white, and to convert it to a black and white picture (with PS's channel mixer).
The lens I used is a Sigma 100-300 f4-5.6 DL. It's not a particularly good lens, but I picked it up cheap, so no worries.

I spend an hour or so shooting pigeons, but this was a one shot which luckily worked.

Now that's just plain cool. I like the cleaned out background... sets off the bird very well. Only thing I can think to say to change would have been a sharper shot... but given the bird was mid-flap (and 1/350 @ 300mm)... you did a great job
