Description A portrait I created a while back of one of my own RPG characters - Kohana Veladorn, Elven sorceress and bard in the Forgotten Realms. I'd planned a color version of this piece, as the pencil doesn't fully do her justice I think. Kohana's mother was a Sun Elf sorceress from the eastern kingdom of Aglarond, but her father was a Drow (dark elf), a weapons master from a noble house of Menzoberanzzan. They fled together as refugees of their own homelands to the far northern realm of the Silver Marches, where their daughter, Kohana, was born and raised in Silverymoon. Kohana's coloring reflects an interesting blend of her parents' own - her hair a pale, pearly white like her father but with hints of her mother's gold. Her skin is a sun-kissed nut brown like her mother's, but with a dark ashen undertone - a remnant of her father's ebony black. Her eyes are the luminous blue green of a surface elf, but her stature and height (5' 11") traces to her father's side and the towering beauty his own Drow sisters.

I dearly loved playing this character - particularly for the way she was introduced into the campaign as an amnesiac who washed up on a beach and my first adventure was to rediscover her life and purpose (even what kind of character class she was - I wasn't allowed to know at the time) along the way. After a long and glorious series of campaigns spanning the entire world of Toril and a few other planes as well, she lives in semi-retirement with her husband in Silverymoon, teaching music at the Bardic collegium when they aren't on a mission for the Harpers. And yes, she's a good friend of my halfling, Briar Rose .

Forgotten Realms and the places mentioned are property of Wizards of the Coast, but the character and likeness of Kohana is copyright to me and not intended for distribution. A color version will follow as soon as my work load allows.

I can draw, but not like that, my drawings are usualy flat, somtimes they look like theyre kind of popping out, but I always screw up on the face, but awsome, absolutly awsome!

Shes gorgeous! I do love FR elves, I must admit... even in pencil, she has such piercing eyes, and her hair is very sumptious. Can't wait to see her coloured!

Thank you very much! It will be a little while before I can get the color version up, but I will definitely post it here first.

Very nice. I'd love to see a color version just to see how you handle representing her unusual heritage. *grin*

I'm looking forward to the attempt, as soon as I can cull down my current commission queue a bit more.

Wow your characters are so detailed, truly wonderful they are. The shading is brilliantly done, as well as the picture itself. Lovely job!

Thank you very much. Believe it or not, hair is one feature that has always given me grief (and I don't just mean my own! LOL). I can't count the number of different styles I tried for her, but eventually settled on something with an Oriental feel, as her husband was raised in the far eastern realm of Kara Tur, and they had quite a few Oriental Adventures of their own.

Like the sketchyness of it

Thank you! Her anatomy isn't 100% correct for my taste, but it was a spur-of-the-moment sketch during a game that I'd intended to go back and tinker with anyway.

I really love drawing elves, and Forgotten Realms is an RPG with a lovely and diverse variety of them in all shapes, sizes and colors!

Oh yeah - I tend to keep pretty odd hours, between my husband's night shift work schedule and our son's day school schedule. I'm still trying to find a balance for my own work and sleep time so I can be there for them as well, and post work when I can.
