I, for one, never thought of orcs as being all that organized when it came to combat. After all, most media just depicts them as savage, raging beasts. I am glad the book at least put some organization, strategy, and tactics to their warbands. Shame they're rarely disciplined enough to really employ them, or they could be a force to be reckoned with...

As with the dwarf, this is a great take at a realistic depiction of a fantasy warrior.
And thanks for the info that Osprey is giving fantasy races their treatment, that might be interesting.

Very cool but... that orc has a perfectly good shield on his back -- why not use it? In mass warfare, your shield is a saving grace against enemy attacks, especially arrows!

Boy, he's ready for a rumble, isn't he? The Dacian-Thracian image looks real good. I'm not surprised Osprey is getting into "speculative wargaming", there's money in it, and it's a new market.

His equipment and weaponry reminds me a little bit of ancient Thracian, Illyrian and Dacian Warriors.
