Description And there you were thinking it was going to involve underwear or something...

Well, this is another one of those things that got out of hand. It started with me thinking that two of my favorite characters, from two seperate animes were both named after some kind of car. So here's Tessa Testarossa (from Full Metal Panic!) with a Ferrari Testarossa. Not the god-awful supercar, but the older (and therefore far cooler) 250 Testarossa, built on the 250GTO platform. So, from left to right: Kaname Chidori (looking like she really isn't soaking up the atmosphere), The military brat (Shinji Kazama), Hyperactive sugar girl (Kyouko Tokiwa), Sousuke Sagura (trying to inflate a tyre), Kurtz Webber (hey, he's named after a carburettor), Melissa Mao (smoking while re-fueling the car, couldn't figure out where the actual fuel cap was), Tessa Testarossa.

Originally it was just going to be Tessa and the car. Then I thought "Hey, lets have some of the rest of the crew from FMP! working on it". Which was promptly followed by "It would only be good if they were dressed in period outfits". Which was finally followed by "they'd better be at Goodwood", Goodwood being the closest thing to REAL racing you can get without building a time machine. In which case your DeLorean may look a little out of place in 1960...

For those that don't know, by "Goodwood" I actually refer to the Goodwood Revival. It is an annual event put on by the Earl of March (on who's estate Goodwood Motor Circuit is on) and is basically an excuse for Classic Car enthusiasts to get dressed up in silly clothes then hit the track to make sure that they have enough repair work ahead to keep themselves amused till next Revival. Actually, there is a bit more to it. No car built after 1966 is allowed into the circuit. Visitors must be dressed in period costume (whether that be 60's, country gentelmen , City Socialites or WWII Military). Men are not allowed into the paddock without a tie. Mechanics wear ties and the old white canvas coveralls. On the evening prior to the event, special guests and compeditors are invited to cocktail on the lawn infront of March Manor. During which time a number of Spitfires and Hurricanes (Goodwood having been an RAF base during the war) alight on the lawn (this is a BIG estate), flown by men in full WWII RAF attire, and guided in by similarly clothed groundcrew, who then join the revellers... You get the idea. It's one of those places I want to visit atleast once in my lifetime. Link to the site is here ---> [link]
Highly reccomend clicking on "the experience" and watching the little movie, a lap round the circuit in a Ferrari 250GTO.

Anyways, enough from me. As a sidenote: "Testarossa" in Italian literally translates to "Red head", so where the bollocks they got off giving it to Tessa (who has sort of silver-greyish hair in the seires) as a last name, I don't know.

It's an event I really want to get to... though how far the pit stops have come. When digital TV first came in here, and people were trying to figure out what to put on all the new channels, the ABC used to run a thing called "late night legends", which was just re-runs of old sporting events. One was the 1968 (I think) Tasman Series (so, what F1 did in the off-season) race from Lakeside. "Pitting" involved just pulling up next to the barrier on the main straight while the pit crew hopped over the wall.

Kurtz is named after a carburettor? Wow, i always thought he was named after the crazy Colonel from Apocalypse Now, Colonel KURTZ

I dunno... I'm a car-nerd, particularly and classic-car nerd. So the first association I made was between his last name and Weber carburettors.

well i wanna jump on the critque first ^.^ something about the guy changing the wheel... he loks a big to big, it might ust be me cause i know that type of car is quite small but... then again looking again he looks alright >.< bah am not sure just ignore that bit

the rest of the picture is awesome, the line of cars draws your attention along the pit and I love how you have the furthest back car being worked on, it just adds that bit more realism to it that I love about your works. They mix technical know how with wonderful illustritve skill the people in the crowd look very cool to, eventhe scary ones without faces

great piece once again ^-^

Yeah, I fell into my old problem of drawing cars undersized again. I gotta find someway around that. At the moment the Ferrari looks about Super 7 sized, which could be a problem seeing as the 250 is a V12 (I think).

Thanks mate.

*twitches at car facts* to many numbers and not enough plain english  well it still looks awesome and like I said i wasn't to sure at firstlooking at it am still undecided if he is overly big... he might just be slightly to big and it's off putting. I'd say that's one thing about your drawings. You have an AMAZING! (that's an under statment) eye for detail and your pictures are so wonderful in that way, but when there is something tiny off it makes it all that more noticable

still cool cool picture

That's were modern fuel caps are. I sort of figured that, being from 1957 when refueling required 5 gallon cans, it would be one on the old quick release type, somewhere on the top. Since I couldn't see one in the photos I got (all of the front dammit ) I took a guess. So It's quite likely I was wrong. It's happened plenty of times before

As for inking and colouring. Probably a way down the track. This is about as inked as my drawings get. As for colouring, I'll let you in on a secret - My colouring skills are about as good as my language skills... Nonexistant. I currently rely on nice people like *cough, hack* and to do my colouring for me

Just so you know, there's nothing wrong with your language skills! You're one of the more eloquent people I talk to here. You're intelligent, well spoken and use a plethora of words not found in most peoples' vocabularies. I admire that, my friend.
That aside, if you leave that pic just like it is, it's still an amazing piece of work! Kudos to you, hon.

No, I was reffering to my forign (I can't spell) language skills. I can speak just enough French to make a fool of myself trying, even less German, and my Czech is slightly worse than my Japanese, which is limited to saying "hello" and calling someone an idiot

Baka... Thank you Nadesico
It's a pretty good word, almost as funny as hearing "Mushi mushi?" said down a phone line...
The only reason I know Czech is because I was over there early this year. We were staying in people's homes, so I had to atleast learn "Goodmorning" and "Thankyou". I know a grand total of TWO words in Czech
