Ever feel like you're living in an entirely different world to the rest of the planet?*** *** ***
Ok, so I've been slowly working on this since mid-late January, just adding a bit here and there. Special props have to go to , who continually allowed me to bounce ideas off her and for the masses of support she levelled in this direction and also to , who built and set up the new computer that allowed me to finish this after my old one decided it didn't want to deal with that many layers. Oddly enough I've not yet got around to watching that. As much as I love Ghibli works, there's more than a few still unwatched: Laputa, Mononoke, Nausicca... the list goes on

I don't really care for her eyes...they seem very flat.
But I love the concept of this piece and how you did it.

Mate, if you have any tips on drawing eyes/faces in general I'd love to hear them. That part of the body eludes me completely, particularly the eyes, for some reason they either come out flat looking, or glassy and lifeless.

No problem. I'll do some sketches, and try and find some tutorials on DA that might help too.
I actually like drawing eyes (though, I always hated when I'd draw one, but the other isn't placed right or is two big :/ )

Photoshop resizing has been a godsend
I'm actually kinda ok doing eyes with traditional media... but colouring stumps me. Sketches would be very much appreciated though... plus I always like to see how other people do things
I'll have a hunt around for some tutorials.

I have been using the term head space for well over 10 years ever wonder where a phrase starts? I never heard it before I started using it but I am certain I am not the first to have used it.

Yeah, I've been using it for awhile too... but got no idea where I picked it up from.
It would be interesting to find out where it comes from though. I mean, some words/phrases you can kinda logic your way through, but not so much that one.

Yeah, you're right, it does look pushed together. However if you look at the shoulder line of her jacket it should be about right. Most of that clumped togetherness I think is due to the scarf and high collar.

It's a 9x12 Wacom Intuos 3... the result of three years of somehow forgetting to celebrate birthdays. Took a lot of time to get used too, been three years or so since I got it and I'm only just now starting to get the hand-eye co-ordination down... but then again I'm slow on the uptake of these things

Hmm, interesting portrayal of the out of place concept. I love the contrast between the fantastic and the drudge of reality. Also I like how the fantastic world seems to swirl from the person's head and how it waeves behind the building like it is flowing not static.
