Somali, Barbary lion (Panthera leo leo) - taken in ZOO Vienna, Austria

Name: Barbary Lion (Panthera leo leo)
Location: FORMERLY North Africa from Morocco to Egypt, now only ZOOs
Size: 280 cm long body + 90 cm tail (male) weight: 295 kg (male)
Diet: carnivora
Conservation status: Exctinct in the wild
Interesting facts: Barbery lion is exctinc species, or at least exctinct in the wild | the only Barbary lions live in ZOOs β they are descendats of the Barbaby lions from Marocan menagerie. Unfortunately, they are all crossed with other lion subspecies, so there are no pure blooded Barbary lions.

I hate the stupid humans, all lions will be gone at 2020 not just this one, all ov them, depending in Nat Geo's research... We must act!

Ye it is a sad fact about calculating population datas, wildlife experts says 2020 will be the date of lion disappearance from nature. I guess zoo lions will be here, but they don't have great bloodline as their members in the wild

this is by far the most outstanding picture of a lioness i've ever seen... the aged sinister look of the white goatee and flared out ear fur... not to mention the gaze of doom is all striking

That is a gorgeous shot of the lioness! I would kill to get a shot like that at one of the zoos in my area. It looks like the zoos where you are at are relatively photographer friendly.
