From a young age, Rue was always seen as the type to stay calm and sensible, even when in an unpredictable predicament that many other kids might've been too scared or too excited about. For example, Rue was always calm when it came to getting injured or lost, sure he was scared, but the Luxio made sure to always keep a straight face. When he was younger Rue's parents were very sweet and kind, but always busy when it came to the family business they ran. Because of this, whenever they had to stop work to help Rue, the electric type always felt bad for stopping his parents from work, so he learned to stay calm and treat himself. This steamed into his more amiable side as well. With helping costumers and guests, Rue kept up a positive picture in front of them; but this didn't only apply to guests. Rue was often seen as a happy kid, no matter what the situation was. Of course he knew how to be respectful and silent, but he always made sure to look on the bright side of things. This is one of the reasons he decided to help the guild, because he wanted other people to have a positive outlook on life even while things have gone rye.
Moving from his home to go work at the Everstone guild, Rue began to change a little bit, his experience being stuck in a dungeon also causing him to change his outlook on things. Rue became more of the type to not want to regret anything, so he began to grow more passionate towards others. Of course he was always passionate about his family business, but he changed his passion towards newer things; like actual people. He became more of a romantic, flirting with guys and girls who he deemed cute. Not being afraid, he also let his more blunt side come out. Of course Rue doesn't mean to hurt people's feelings when it comes to being blunt, but the Luxio can be rather naive when it comes to someone's feelings; after all he was surrounded by feral's and only interested with costumers' complaints and not their feelings. His blunt side does tend to hurt people, and often causes him to get in trouble with his sisters whenever they ask how they look, but for the most part it allowed for him to stay truthful and trustworthy. Growing up, Rue was allowed to do many things without his parents-- sometimes his sisters-- being up in his case about stuff. His sisters, for the most part, helped Rue when it came to school topics; but for the most part he was allowed to do whatever he wanted. This let the electric type explore the desert more often whenever he wanted too, but also made him more responsible at a young age. Sometimes he would get into trouble that he had to take care of himself, but supported his growth enough to a point that made his classmates look up to him sometimes when it came to class events.
Unfortunately, Rue can be rather stubborn. Perhaps it's because he was too independent at a young age, but when he truly thinks something is right, he won't change his mind. For example, when the disaster hit Rue refused to turn back home even when his father started to beg for him to come back, and he even resorted to throwing Ruby in a kennel because he was determined to keep his friend by his side. His obstinate personality also comes from being mature too quickly. He didn't have a long childhood-- thanks to his own decision-- because of work, so he learned that his own opinions should always be stuck with. After the disaster hit, Rue also became a bit more over-protective of his family and friends. Ever since his fathers arm was broken, Rue began to risk himself instead of having other people suffer. Perhaps it's because of his caring nature, but he doesn't want to see people suffer. Along with this, he can grow to be rather enigmatic depending on the situation. If he's with friends his expression can sometimes be easily read, but with strangers he always keeps a straight face. This also ties in with his amiable side, seeing as he rather cover his anger with a smile in order not to scare anyone.

Before the Disaster:
In the middle of fall, Rue was born on Ruby Island to an old family. This family consisted of two older twin siblings-- both Lilipup's
that took after their father. These girls are named Alrisha (Isha) and Samakah (Sam), and are older than Rue by five years. Their mother goes by Akiiki and their father is called Ramses. Akiiki and Ramses were assigned to marriage at a young age in order to raise family profit, but the two already knew one another and had no problems falling in love!
By the time Rue was born, their family had established a well-made family business that was stable enough thanks to the workers there thanks to the money from Ramses' family; so by the time Rue was of age he had to mature quick enough to help out his family.
The family business started out as trade assistants between Ruby port and Dusty village long ago, their main goal in this job being the protection of the traders as they travel through the desert to their destination. In the old days the company was small and luckily got the aid from a family of Darmanitan's, and for years they got by on a whim with their help-- providing food and shelter for the Darmanitan family in return for help in lugging around trade boxes. Fortunately in later years as the feral pokemon became more calm, more people paired up with the family and gave them an opportunity to gain more money and also give their home more tourists from the city. During this expansion they introduced many new things such as: Hippowdon tours, a tour-like system where people would be able to go for a leisurely ride on top of a Hippowdon-- providing a seating area-- and get tours all around the Dusty desert and Ruby Canyon. Gabite surfing, a relaxing free-ranged activity where you freely explore the Dusty Desert with the Gabite evolution line, each evolution indicates your skill. Lastly, there's Dodou Racing, a competition held by the company where a Dodou pairs up with a racer and race through the Dusty desert with certain points marked as their destination, all while avoiding traps and other feral pokemon that live within the Dusty Desert.
The Daramitan protection was always kept the same, but expanded somewhat to where the Darmanitan's began to help create certain fields for the Dodou racing, made sure every pokemon were kept safe, and overall were body guards for the company. The Daramitan evolution line is the closets to the family, so close that Rue became best friends with a Darumaka that he named Ruby. Ruby and Rue were the best of friends, always working with one another and were never seen apart even when on break-- but their friendship didn't start right off the bat.
Before Rue met Ruby, Rue was rather popular in class with his classmates; but he found it rather hard to stay connected with one group when he wanted to be connected with all groups. As he went on in school, Rue stay connected with mainly his family since he was never able to participate in after-school activities since he had to help with the family business. While this was fine to him-- he enjoyed helping his family-- but Rue was never able to go exploring with the kids after class. It became like a chore to help his family, that is until he met Ruby. Ruby had just hatched from an egg, an egg that Rue helped take care of whenever his parents didn’t have time. Not thinking he’d be as excited to see this egg hatch, the shinx (at the time) ignored the small Duramaka at first. It wasn’t until the small fire-type pokemon was able to walk properly that Rue noticed it. Wandering into Rue’s room one night, it fell asleep with the Shinx until the morning. Once morning arose, Rue spent hours trying to return the Duramaka but to no avail. During this time Rue and the fire type became close-- with all the tricks they played on one another-- and after awhile Rue let Ruby become his friend
Ever since that day, the two were barely seen apart. The fire pokemon would sometimes join Rue to school, and was even there during an incident from sand surfing. Rue was about 10 years of age when he finally was able to bring home a group of friends who were willing to go surfing with him. Being young-- and dumb-- the young kids were fooling around with the in-training Gible and teasing it, against Rue’s please for them to stop. More or less, the situation was not pretty and the feral Gabite ended up snapping and attacking one of the kids. Rue tried his best to stop it peacefully but the kids began to fight back and attack it out of fear. In order to stop the situation, the Shinx and the Duramaka separated the kids from the Gible. Since the Gible was still panicking and freaking out, Rue attempted to calm it down by petting and holding the create like he would normally do with Ruby whenever he was scared of something. It took biting Rue’s arm for the Gible to calm down, but once it was calmed down Rue was able to learn a valuable lesson.
After this whole ordeal, Rue had stopped attending school and decided to home school himself in order to help his family business more since he was so inspired to help the feral pokemon. Rue thought it was a great idea, but his sisters were in an outrage. He was among the smartest in his family when it came to education-- outside of business-- why should he waste his talent? In the end his sisters weren't able to convince him from dropping out, so that's what he did. His parents were fine with this and so they gave him a job to manage stock and take care of the feral's in his free time.
The Disaster:
A few years passed by the time something went wrong. During those few years Rue had evolved and learned a lot about what business and care-taking was like. He took over for his dad when it came to marketing and allowed for him to settle down in one job, helping with cargo and the Daramitan. Rue's sisters were fully in charge of the tourist, and their mother helped with planning certain events.
Everything was going great, Rue had thought.
Unfortunately, it was a calm day when the disaster happened.
Like any normal day, except for something was up with the feral pokemon. Some of them hadn't been affected by whatever it was yet, so the family thought it was just an odd sickness that hit the feral pin; unfortunately that didn't seem to be the case. Rue's father, Ramses, went into one of the Hippowdon pens and was bitten. Being large teeth, the Hippowdon was able to chomp easily onto Ramses' arm, causing for the bone to break. Luckily they were able to pull Ramses away from the beast, but his arm wasn't able to heal from the wound.
Ever since the bone in Ramses' arm was shattered, the family had a hard time with the rest of the ferals. More and more cases appeared of the changed pokemon attacking workers and volunteer staff, as well as reports of the Darumaka and Daramitan destroying cargo that they were suppose to be carrying. It didn't take long after that for the feral pokemon to start destroying the house and running away back into the forest, leaving the Linch family in shambles.
During this time, Rue knew that the same thing would happen to Ruby, but being young and naive he decided to just lock up his friend instead of set him free before he hurt someone; and the time did come when the Darumaka began to change.
It was only a few days after the beginning of the Disaster when the fire type grew hostile towards Rue. It began with a hiss from within the pen, but it soon turned into a small fire cause by Ruby that allowed for it to escape. Ramses, knowing what feral's are actually capable of, tries to get his son to stay in the house, but unfortunately wasn't fit enough to chase after his son during the beginnings of a sandstorm.
During the time span of chasing Ruby and leaving the house was only a couple of minutes, but before the Luxio knew it he was stuck within the thickest part of the storm. It took hours of his struggling through the sand, occasionally he would catch a glimpse of a light but it'd be lost within seconds. The only hope Rue had beside that was when he saw the signs of a large structure-- most likely hills-- but all that was lost as the sand beneath him grew heavy and he was drug into a sand dune.
The Luxio thought that would be the end of his journey.
It wasn't.
When he awoke, the Luxio found himself dirty but alive. He was hidden within a gap of rocks in an underground cave system. There seemed to be many twists and turns, and as Rue continued to wonder about he noticed the increase in feral pokemon stomping around the place. Some seemed to be locals at his farm, but others were feral pokemon he hadn't seen before now. It took hours for Rue to finally give up from his march around the tunnel system, with hiding from the feral pokemon to watching out for odd objects, it took too much out of his tired body. Passing out, Rue didn't know how long he laid there until a loud noise caught his attention. At first it was long and drawn out, but next thing he knew it sounded like multiple voice shouting for his name. Tired, and still confused, Rue got up from his hiding position and stumbled towards the noise. It didn't take long before he was able to make it into the hands of someone else. A few other people were with him, but for the most part the warmth of his savior dragged him away and out for the tunnels.
Rue later learned about what had happened while he was down there, which turned out to be two and a half days, but a lot has happened in that time span. Some of the Dusty village citizens, including the Lynn family, decided to pair together with the explorers and rescuer's, and sent the most willing of people to go and help the newly founded guild. Rue's rescuers, who he later learned were from the Everstone City guild, had to return back since they were here to begin with on a separate matter.
After Rue's recovery the Luxio knew what he had to do. With nothing left to do, Rue explained to his family that he had to go to Everstone City. Not only would this help him gain money for his family, but he couldn't help to think about what might've happen if he didn't get rescued by the guild members; what about the other kids who might've been in the same predicament as him? Knowing that they couldn't change his mind easily, Rue's parents agreed in helping Rue get to the city.
And once that day came, Rue went onto the boat and knew they would be a new start. Without his friend, without his family, he wanted to come back stronger in hope to protect them; and in hopes to meet his old friend once again. Without a moments hesitation, the luxio decided to go by 'Ruby' when in the new city.
