What a beautiful piece, how much would something like this go for?

is it easier to carve when wet? Over time will cracking continue since it has started or possible warping?

Yes it is and there are no cracks in it. When carving the animal on one side of the center you take out the tension in the wood(animal). The ceter of this piece of oak is just in front of the pawn of the chamois and cracks to the outside of the wood. Despite of this way of carving free, it sometimes can happen that there comes a crack in the animal to, but this crack won't go through the total animal.

Very good, I like the base/background, it sets up the goat well, but doesn't over complicate it. Like the patterning of the hair too.
