This month at superheroofthemonth.com the challenge is to do a redesign of Daredevil. Being a fan of Daredevil I couldn't resist taking part in the challenge.For my version of Daredevil I obviously wanted to play up the devil aspect (all the better to scare criminals). I also wanted to make the mask reflect his blindness.
Does anyone else have an idea for a Daredevil redesign? You should check out the web-site! It's always fun when there are a lot of submissions.

Just...just everything about this. Loving the playing up the devil theme but still making it clearly Daredevil. That's a sign of an AWESOME redesign! Great job!

Thank you very much! I was definitely thinking of him using a "Scare them straight" sort of garb. Most of his costumes aren't exactly terrifying though.

Thanks! It just started out as some of those ninja shoes where the toes are separated into two bits, then I realized that pointy ends would look like cloven hooves. Way cooler!

PS: Oh and that...(dunno how to name it) crack on his back-clothes (like on some suits) is a really nice touch!

haha. I don't know what that is called either. That was another relic of the Spring Heeled Jack design. I was thinking about giving him tails, but that would have been a bit too Victorian.

And the idea is really cool! I imagine the world womewhere in 70th when satanism was popular. Probably this kind of a sperhero will scare the crap out of any bad guy of that time period.

haha. Thanks! I was actually really inspired by an old urban legend called "Spring Heeled Jack". I've tried to draw Spring Heeled Jack a few times, and didn't really like the final design, but incorporated a lot of the elements into this one. Basically he was real theatrical and tried to scare people a lot.

by the way found some daredevil comics from 1983..... man frank miller used to know anatomy. And Also Lee Weeks was one of my biggest inspirations for drawing daredevil in 89.

Yeah, those old Miller drawings were great. I'm not really sure about his newer stuff though. I think he has gotten a little lazy. And all of his women look exactly the same.
