Critique would be much appreciated!

The whole perspective thing is a bit off, but it's a good try. I don't know how to fix it unfortunately, because I'm not really good at perspective myself The colouring is fantastic and the shadows are good. I think the grass could do with a little more detail, however

Other than that, this is a really well done picture

Yeah I agree, the perspective is sorta off. I'm working on studying more anatomy, so hopefully that'll help with drawing perspective in the future.
Thanks very much! I got lazy on the grass though. xD

I wanna learn to draw perpective shots (the giratina picture I did was a practice).

Wow, it's really good! I like the coloring and shading of Akumitsu himself, as well as the scenery around him. His eyes are really pretty, and I also think you did the perspective well...

But the only thing that bugs me a bit is that you put too much emphasis on the perspective... I think you should have made his hind legs and such a little bit bigger, and just make the wolf a little smaller in comparison to the pic. Does that make sense? That way, it would look more like he was below the tree some ways, instead of directly under the branch... (Well, I dunno if that was what you were aiming for or not, sure it's really up to you.)

But other than the few size issues, I think it's really pretty! And I noticed you did the soft shading for the leaves. They look great!

Thanks! Yeah, I agree, the hind legs probably should be a bit bigger. Thanks for pointing that out Personally I think the perspective is pretty crappy. XD And I definitely need to start studying some more anatomy, which'd probably help with doing perspective. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the tree/branch thing though...

Yeah, I think I actually like soft shading better than cell shading. Except I fail whenever I try to do soft shading on a wolf, because there's so much more detail involved. xD

Thanks again!

I think you're really good at perspective, just for this piece, you emphasized it a little too much. I should study more human anatomy, to be honest. Even though I only draw humans, I'm finding it a little hard drawing peoples backs correctly, and their shoulders. I always make them too stiff. :/

Well, the tree/branch thing isn't really important, I'm just being picky. Or something. Either way, I like it!

Yeah, soft shading for wolves would be hard. But once you get the hang of it, it'll probably get easier, and funnnn~

Aww, thanks. But yeah, I see what you mean. lol I really need to study human anatomy too. XD Though right now I'm not sure what I should start practicing drawing next, because I need to learn both human and canine anatomy, and I'm thinking about trying to draw some felines.

Haha I actually dread doing the shading on every pic. I always have trouble figuring out where the shades should go. But I think it's actually a bit easier with humans... probably because I see people all the time, but I don't have a dog so I don't observe them a lot.

I'm going to look at Hoshino-san's art more closely now. Not so much before, but her art in the past year and a half or so has gotten really realistic in the sense of anatomy.
Why don't you just draw Diane and Shadow together? Then you'd get practice on both humans and wolves! (Plus, I want to see your version of Exorcist Diane!) Yeah, I should practice felines too. I think I kinda get how dog anatomy works (since I see your pictures all the time, and I have a dog), but cats are really tricky. Even if you get their face right, their bodies are totally different. :S

Haha, really? I dunno, the shading is just lumped together with the coloring, for me. Most people seem to do the flat colors for the whole picture first, and then do the shading, but for me, I just do the shading for the individual part that I colored in first. I dunno why, but that's just the way I've done it, so the shading just... happens.
Yeah, humans are easier, probably. It'a also probably since we don't have fur. Fur is harder to shade than skin by far. T.T

I love seeing how artists' art styles change throughout the course of the manga. It still amazes me how different Hoshino's art is now. Like, before, her art was really good, but it wasn't really distinct, you know? Now she has a really beautiful, distinct style.
Yeah, I'm working on drawing Diane an Shadow together. But it takes me so much longer to draw humans well. XD Part of the reason I draw canines so much is because they've always been so much easier for me to draw, and when I was little I was too lazy to put in effort and try to learn to draw anything else.
Really? That's interesting, I've never heard of anyone doing that before. I just procrastinate doing hard stuff so I leave the shading til last, if I bother to do it at all. xD

Me too! Like in Bleach, in the beginning he had a much more... cartoony style, and now it's a bit more... manga-ish? Well, no, that's not quite right... But his style REALLy changed! And Hoshino-san's as well, like you said. I'm totally loving her style right now! It's so unique, and the fluidity of their movements are amazing! There's this one manga called, "Alive-The Final Evolution" and it's really good. The art at first... well, it wasn't BAD, but it wasn't incredible, but towards the end the art became astounding! It's... it's hard to explain the style exactly, but it's really good. The sad thing is though, is that the end was rushed. The saddest thing is that the reason it was rushed was because the author/artist died just recently, and he wanted to finish the manga before he died.
Yaaay~! I can't wait for you to post it! It always takes longer to draw something new. (Or newer) Put if you practice some, then it'll be just like when you're drawing wolves.
XD I think shading last is actually a better idea then what I do, since it's easier to get a better idea of where the shadows go all together, but I like my way better. It fits me... Or something.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing to see how much the art in bleach has changed. Aww, that's really sad. The author knew he/she was going to die soon? That must be depressing.
lol, you shade in a very unique way

Yeah... I'm not sure what the author died from, but I think it was cancer? It's pretty terrible either way tough. D:

Haha, yeah, I guess I do. XDD
