Description Acrylic on canvas 40 X 60 cm

This painting was made by order of , from Quebec, Canada. The theme: my view of the feminity. After two or three days searching a image for this work, I saw the photo of this woman in a make-up advertisement and associated it with the broken but wonderful sculture by the great Djehutymes atelier, a unfinished Nefertiti´s portrait. The resemblance is absolute, in spite of 3.400 years between they. The haughtiness, the long neck, the elegance, the sensual lips. So I remembered of the last words of Goethe in the second Faust: L´Éternel Féminin. Then, the famous egyptian symbol of the life (ankh) that I acrescented as the woman ear-ring and the hieroglyph of "eternal" or "eternity". Together they say " Life eternal" ( to the feminity) , blessed by the Horus left eye - in the center -, that sees the feminine world, full of grace, feeling and intuiton.

I enjoy this painting but am immediately irked by the black/brown line seperating the woman on the left's forehead from the halo of white. I would've enjoyed just seeing the white alongside that beautiful pink. I love the color palette in this, it is right up my alley... so flourescent and unnatural.

I love the parallellism found within this painting, and I am humbled by your respect and adoration of women. We need more artists like you! But yes, I've always admired the symbolism you include in your paintings. One thing I noticed that you didn't mention is the "halo" you put around each figure; as in most historic artworks, a halo around a figure indicates sacredness or holiness. So for you to paint a halo around both women I think signifies the sacredness of women and eternal beauty. I love the realism of the eyebrow and teeth, and the detailing around the hairline. What's also great is the contrast between the purple hues of the woman and the yellow hues of the statue. Fantastic work.

One thing I've always wondered, though. Of all media, why do you choose to paint in acrylics? I've always found them rather difficult to work with and prefer oils.

Well, Robyn, I painted with oil for several years. But I was tormented by the mould, because here is very very hot and humid. In the "Garden of Earthly Delights" (, in this gallery, six months for to paint it) when I was finishing my work, the begining already ask for attack the fungus. Then... acrylics.

WJSolha In reply to AlMaNeGrA [2005-05-30 12:21:22 +0000 UTC]

AlMaNeGrA In reply to WJSolha [2005-05-30 13:59:59 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WJSolha In reply to AlMaNeGrA [2005-05-30 15:06:57 +0000 UTC]

Aquelle comportamiento me pareció... fascinante.

Another great, you have a way of making the people in your paintings seem alive. And this one is no exception. The expression and the use of color shows the essence of beauty that is deep within all women. And the comparison showing the timelessness of a womans beauty is an excellent touch.
Thank you, for once again, you have inspired me.
Just recently I wrote two poems, both of them dedications to other deviants. And if you wouldn't mind, I would like to dedicate another poem to one of your paintings. Any painting of your choosing. And I promise to do my best, because I couldn't think of doing anything less for one of your great paintings.

How about both. It may take me a while. Perhaps a few days, but it would be no problem. Both of them can provide more than enough inspiration for a single poem. And I assure you, I will do my absolute best for your paintings.
And perhaps someday I will learn portuguese, so that I can read yours.

Oh, very good: Tiernam. Ok, Tiernam, thank you for this great signal of friendship. But... you see: I made this painting by order of a colleague on deviant and I said to her: wait for some days for receive the canvas, because little things can be changeds in the work. And... right: Today I´ll go to change the photo on deviant: I took off the hieroglyph of " eternal" from the right side and it is, now, part of the ear´ring of the modern woman. With this alteration I created a area of rest, repose in the right side, more equilibrium, and I gain more logic, because the ancient egyptians used to joint the two hieroglyphs together: "life" ( the famous "ankh") and "eternal", that is: "life eternal for the woman", in this case, woman blessed by the Horus Left Eye ( The righ eye protect the men, they said ).

Oh, Tiernan, I have a wonderful book , "Treasures of Egypt", by White Stars Publishers, edited by Francesco Tiradritti, with magnificents photos of Araldo De Luca. And several Historys of Art. That was one of the most beautifuls ages of the human kind. I said in me poem "Trigal con Corvos" about the Egypt: that was a future for a great mistake in the past. And I studied much more about religions that about art.

WJSolha In reply to migiustifico [2005-05-28 12:12:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Julia. But you´ll see, in two or three hours, a new photo of the painting, because I made a little but important alteration on it: the ear-ring of the modern woman will be thehieroglyphs "life" ( as already it is now) more "eternal" : "life eternal", that is, in this case: life eternal for the woman... and... the human kind. The symbol of "eternal" I took off of the right side of the canvas, for to get more equilibrium, too.
