Description Summary of Sunfall: The Siege of Daybreak Town: The Foretellers of Daybreak Town become more paranoid and hostile towards one another, hoarding Lux, fearing that they would be exposed as the foretold traitor. Unbeknownst to all five friends-turned-enemies, foes and enemy forces of long ago gather to exact vengeance on the Keyblade wielders for defeat, humiliation, and utter scarring. The most tragic of fan concept, the Unions do battle together for one last time with their Ponht allies as they brave against shock armies of Ghlonks and Ghlorgs, hordes of purple-bearded Flothals and their Terror Beasts of war, and the despicable cults of the zealous Bah’ Dirilists. A small union of two armies against a massive wave of three adversaries, the battle is set, for the fate of Daybreak Town is in hands of the protectors! (Author’s Note: A fanciful theory that the Unions were defeated by a three-army siege. Pretty much where my influence of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War’s siege levels, comes into play, especially surrounding the siege of Minas Ithil. You’ll get the idea of Warhammer Fantasy will be the foundation of the theme of perpetual wartime hardships and strife. It is also worth mentioning about the implication of the feel of 300, after all, I imagine that the Ponhts are able to send very small army of 150 warriors, including their Chief, the Chief’s Daughter, and the Daughter’s soon-to-be husband.)
Characters/Factions:
1. Ponht Kingdom- To the west lays the vast stretch of land known only as the Western Scar. Its northern half, Sau-Yg, is locked in eternal combat with monsters and demons, while its southern realm, Hul’Quu, is experiencing a magnificent cultural and spiritual enlightenment. It is here that humanity and strange creatures live amongst each other, sometimes at peace, but for one too many, fighting to the bloody end. The Northern Realm is especially a constant battlefield between good and evil. However, there is a beacon of hope for its inhabitants, particularly to those who dwell northeast, the Ponht kingdom. Historically, this tribal union was once nothing more than separate tribes that often expressed mistrust in one another over hunting rights, land ownership, and poor judgement of trade. This petty bickering all changed when men-like beasts came from the north, having conquered the tribes and lands they came across. These gaunt, toothy, clawed monsters would both enslave and devour humans, allied with short, spiny creatures, and other horrors best left undescribed. When the children of these tribes went missing, it was time to unite, and to end the slaughter once and for all. Unfortunately, their best efforts were nothing compared to perma-frost swords, poisonous arrows, and armor made of thick whale bone. Battle after battle, this united group of tribes would be next to being treated as slave-cattle. Salvation did came at last, during the battle of Sano’Kwa, in the form of a maiden riding into battle on the back of a doe, wielding nothing but a feather for a shield and an antler as a talisman. She rallied a trapped battalion of river tribesmen, renewed the courage of hill-bound warriors, and gave hope to a tribe who relied on the forests as protection. This mystery woman soon found herself confronted by the most evil of the northern man-beast, the prince Haliego the Dark-Blooded. The young girl used her feather to deflect his blows, and her antler made the monster yield to her presence. But, the fiend refused to even consider surrender, and when he plucked out and charged with his bone dagger towards the girl, she dodge his attack, and stabbed him in the back to the heart with the antler! His death, witnessed by his most loyal of warriors, sent a shockwave of fear throughout his army. The united tribes were saved, and sought to congratulate the teenager for her valor. However, she had disappeared as mysteriously as she charged into the battlefield. Believing that she may had been a Samaritan from the little-known Pahawns that once existed centuries ago, it was Zechunac Wolf-Blessed that declared the formation of the Ponht Kingdom, and to give aide to the other tribes of the northern, southern, and western regions of the Northern Realm. They eventually formed a pact with the Master of Masters and his apprentices after both parties successfully drove back a horde of man-beasts from the Wide Plains. In return for the Keyblade wielders’ efforts at the Wide Plains, and their training of their children and warriors with the Keyblades, the Pohnts offered to help with construction of Daybreak Town. (Author’s Note: Now this maybe my most controversial concept yet to date. I image the Pohnts from eastern Native American tribes, with at least a tiny bit of early city-states of Indo-European culture.)
2. Ghlonks- The Ghlonks of the Inter-War saga are no different from their Fairy Tales ancestors, though the latter had an even cruder form of technology, and their Ghlorgs were often ill-built, with some even bearing the limbs and heads of those sewn together. They use all sorts of melee weapons, from swords to clubs, spears to axes, and often use either bows and arrows crossbows, or crude flintlock firearms. Their favorite weapons involve large, spring-loaded artillery capable of launching boulders at very weak structures. When Daybreak Town was completed and became populated, the Ghlonks began a series of attempted raids, whether to pillage for food, valuables, or simply to take over. Despite their brute force led by Emdaschu the Bloodless, the Foreteller Ira, joined by Gula and Ava, managed to push them back, and since then the Ghlonks have been making gruesome human sacrifices to gain the favor of their god, the Deathflame Monarch Uko-Gij. Under his banner of the, they seek to turn Daybreak Town into a stronghold.
3. Flothals- Long ago, before Daybreak Town was even conceived in the land it was built on, that same land was once inhabited by the most repulsive barbarian tribe to have ever dwelt there: the Flothals, also known to the outside world, the Purple-Haired. It is said that even before their bizarre encounter with the “Bone Lord”, they were an already brutish, aggressive, and xenophobic race that would not hesitate to murder anyone that came into their territory. It is said that they were born with purple hair, along with the choice coloration of their weaponry, because their ancestral chieftain, Abrooski, was born with such an abnormality, but for a purpose. Legend has it that during his time in his mother’s womb, he was visited by an agent of the Deep Darkness. This spirit offered him a variety of sword in different colors. Amongst these deadly tools, the future chief chose the purple blade, and ever since then, purple has become the sacred color that “kills things fast”, not because of anything poisonous, but because it was said Abrooski slew a dragon with that blade in his dreams. When they were “visited” by the Bone Lord, they enacted the philosophy of “Thick Versus Thin”, the thicker a person’s bones were, the stronger they were. It was no problem that children they considered thin of bone were often sacrificed in the name of the Bone Lord, or more gruesome during the winter, were cannibalized. Such actions would be carried out on a daily basis. At this time, the Master of Masters and his six apprentices (five of which would become the Foretellers) were wandering in the region, contemplating to find an appropriate location to establish a sort of training ground/permanent living community for newly-anointed Keyblade wielders. One night, the group of Keyblade wielders came across what they thought was a mere bonfire of sorts. Instead, to their unbridled horror, Flothal shamans were sacrificing young children to a hideous idol. Initially, the Master would not want to have his pupils involved, but, sense of moral duty overcomes that of service. The young students charged forth to prevent any more bloodshed, and battled the Purple-Haired savages that were attending the ritual. This triggered a violent war; 50,000 angry Flothals against seven strangers from parts unknown, the former armed with flint swords, bows and arrows, clubs, and spears, while the latter wield unusual key-like weapons. Despite the sight of blood being strewn about, the sound of bones breaking and men yelling war cries, amidst the havoc, the seven strangers never lost their hearts to darkness, only in keeping mind of rescuing the children that their own people considered weak. Victory for the Keyblade wielders was attained after Aced managed to defeat the current Flothal chief, Grundal Bone-Cruncha, via pushing him off of a cliff, breaking his “thick bones”. In the end, the Keyblade wielders not only defeated the barbarians, but also pushed them to the bleak Dragon Jaw Mountain range, where ever since then, they have lived unbearable lives, thirsting for vengeance. The coloration of Daybreak Town itself is an insult to the doctrine of the Flothal’s color of death. One well-accounted, though yet-to-be-proven, report stated that the Keyblade wielders once fought a horde of black, skeletal demons that were summoned by remnant Flothal shamans. (Author’s Note: These barbarians are imaged after the Germanic tribes and Celts that ruled Europe in the Iron Age, with a significant mixture of Neanderthal proto-culture.)
4. Bah’Dirilists- From the heart of the peninsular land of Shireburg, during its moment of enlightenment, it was besieged by a sect of violent, bloodthirsty fanatics. No one knows where the Bah’Dirilists came from or who founded the bloody cult or even when. However, they immediately gained notoriety when they assaulted the Shireburgian capital of Galastery, and far worse, launched an inquisition to punish those they deemed “heretical” against their god, Bah’Diril. Instead of converting people to their religion, they indiscriminately kill them simply because they are an abomination to them, and conversion would not have been any different, lest a converted outsider would corrupt Bah’Dirilism. The Bah’Dirilists sought to form a powerful empire, and to do so, they would need to crush and exterminate their enemies. While they displayed their brutal military, and according to some, dabbling of ancient sorcery, their westward expansion only gained them a small harbor of the Western Scar from the Ponhts. Therefore, they took to the East, and have left a devastating mark on the poor villages and towns that got in their path. Years of vicious inquisitorial persecution of innocent people and subsequent mass executions proved to strike fear into the hearts of many, with many villages being abandoned even before being invaded by the Bah’Dirilist cult. Eventually, their conflict with the Keyblade wielders came when children who fled from their village, which their religion based on tributes to Kingdom Hearts as a benevolent vessel for their goddess, sought refuge in the half-completed Daybreak Town. The Bah’Dirilists are infamous for their persistent hunting of any escaped heretic, and these children in question were of no exception. Armed with boats for easier travel, rapiers, machetes, black powder firearms, cannons, and the occasional spells and poisonous potions, they marched forth to the small isolated town to purge every single person responsible for harboring heresy. Not surprising, the stationed Keyblade wielders and Ponhts took up arms and battled against the mindless fanatics. Despite the offending belligerent suffering heavy casualties, they believe that pain is the ultimate gratification to their faceless god. This siege and assault lasted for nearly half a month, until their current leader, Mathius Schwengston, was badly scarred by Invius’ Keyblade. They retreated into the Deepest of Forests, where they still conduct rituals of a ghastly nature. (Author’s Note: The real-life counterpart of this detestable religious body would be pinned on Evangelical extremism and the horrors of the notorious Spanish Inquisition.)
5. Pyreans- During the siege of Daybreak Town, these otherworldly demons were summoned by Flothal shamans and Bah’Dirilist priests to hasten the town’s downfall. Prior to coming into contact with Ferronian technology, most Pyreans utilized medieval weapons, such as swords, bows and arrows, crossbows, polearms, halberds, spears, mortars, and cannons, mostly made from lava rock, and sometimes metals. They also used a menagerie of nightmarish caricatures of known animals.
Settings:
1. Daybreak Town- The crown jewel of the Keyblade wielders and the center of the knowledge of the history of Kingdom Hearts itself. It was here that the Traitor Crisis came to be, and before that, was the site of three battles against savages, barbarians, and cultists. It will also serve as the most brutal of battles the foretellers will face in their lives.
