Description we littered the floor with empty ramen packets and innocence
washing the windows with hard-won sweat and oil paints
too many long nights and too little loves
broken painted canvasses and snapped piano wires
(i wanted you)

we played music for their stereo ears and broke the dynamics
(decrescendo pianissimo)
until the moon frowned
(and we laughed)
falling on crackling leaves
radio sounds washing over our fingers

we taught the world how to use our shades
taking their wishes and making them ours
(i never knew you)
turning them into lovers of the sun
(irresponsible lovers we were)

when i found you there was never resistance
earmuffs and mittens wrapping you up from sorrow
(all too easy)
and your colors were all gray

when i found you with your empty voice
empty shade
(and you couldn't say thank you)
i gave you my warm hands
you didn't answer

so i painted a smile on your little doll face and i called you mine

Love it! I like how it's a sort of narrative and yet feels like a possible song (actually I almost thought it was!)
