Description I couldn't let the cirrent Ashes series go by without comment.

C'mon England!

The cricket is soooo good I actually don't mind who wins.

Just as long as the good old British weather doesn't spoil things.

For those of you who don't understand the rules of cricket or don't know what a "silly mid off", a "googly" or a " deep gully" is don't worry - most of us don't

How do you play that, anyway? Just curious.

Have you ever read the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and the books after it? *L* They weave cricket into that in most amazing ways.

I've never really been into cricket, I like footy better, but as long as its not as boring as curling (which most people hate, but I love!) I would be willing to give it a shot. They don't show much cricket here even in Canada though....

for cricket!
There are definatly too many special terms, but it makes it more fun when people who havent a clue are watching, this series has been awesome, it sucks I'll be at school for some of the final test But C'mon England definatly

You mean there really is such a thing as cricket? Over here in North America it's largely considered a myth, along the lines of dragons and manticores, but somewhat less dramatic. I mean, who could believe in the existence of anything with terminology like that.

Great picture anyway.

Windy999 In reply to Rayfan [2005-09-03 20:57:38 +0000 UTC]

Ha!

After the way England played the last few years we thought it might be a myth too

*Has no clue what's going on* I'd say the closest I've come to Cricket is with Douglas Adams' HGTTG... Third book I believe. But of course I'm an American (Please don't flame, I'll do no harm ^^) so I have no clue about it.... There's a bat... a ball... and.... stuff. Please excuse my ignorance, but accept my comment.

I love the sweater, that is so neat! His smile is just great! And the umbrella is well detailed as well (Yes I have heard of the /wonderful/ weather there from a new transplant Englander who used to live here... we in Florida are seeing a bunch of rain at the moment as well... but the sun's still out when there are torrents of rain... strange indeed)

Don't worry - ask 99.9% of Brits what a "silly mid-off" or a "deep gully" is and they won't know (they are fielding position btw)

silly mid-off eh? I LOVE IT!

I've never been able to figure out cricket; what it's about or the purpose of it. It helps I've never seen it played and that it's not played at ALL in the States. Always thought the cricket bat thingy was kinda funny though.

Really good drawing too, the textures on his sweater look like they were a pain do draw.

...wait. Playing a sport in a sweater?

Lessee...If I remember my Hitchhiker's Guide correctly, the ashes are the remains of a burnt cricket stump symbolizing the death of English cricket in Australia or something like that, right?

Whatever it is, all I can say is, if I were killed by a robot what looked like that, all I'd be able to think as I died would be, "Why did I have to die at the hands of something what looks so stupid?"

No offense if you happen to be one of those people what likes cricket. Even you have to admit that outfit would be an embarassing one to have as your murderer. It's like it's saying, "I'm an even bigger twit than someone's little brother."

Very cool. You guys did make hard work of it yesterday. I though for a minute when Warne was chewing through the openers that they were going to pull some sort of historic victory out of one of those skanky floppy hats the Aussies loves so much.

I will watch with interest to see whether or not the robots from Krikket will return at the Oval to claim the Ashes next week....

Well we did learn it from someone....

Lol i heard the funniest thing on TV the other night. Was watching "House" (sarcastic doctor show) and one of his student doctors is Aussie, and the aussie guy made some comment and:
House: "...that must be an example of your british stiff-upper lip"
Aussie: "I'm not British, I'm Australian!"
House: "You put the Queen on your money, your british"
