Description
This is a purple sandpiper. Found in the coasts of Greenland. The purple sandpiper has a mainly dark body with a slight purplish gloss and mainly white underneath. It breeds in the tundra in the summer, and then flies to the eastern US shores for the winter. Purple sandpipers forage on rocky coasts, picking up food by sight.
