Your coloring is so fantastic! The tutorial is great. I use GIMP and was able to follow the steps fairly well. I used it as a general reference (not to the T) and it helped a LOT with my shading and highlighting.

Palomino Lineart

Thank you! :] Hopefully, in time, I'll be just as great!

jinxedxD [2010-03-07 20:23:02 +0000 UTC]

okay haha i feel really dumb asking this but it's my first time using this program that has been sitting on my computer forever, how do you get the lines to show through the colour without the colour being faded?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wideturn In reply to jinxedxD [2010-03-07 22:00:10 +0000 UTC]

It is a transparent layer. You should look up photoshop tutorials if you're not sure

Yayyy! Pretty horse! Finally, a good horse tutorial for Corel.
What type of media did you use for coloring? Pencils, oils, acrylics...etc....?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wideturn In reply to Ospreyghost13 [2010-02-08 23:31:20 +0000 UTC]

for coloring I usually only use a fine point pen and soft charcoal. for blending, just add water.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dusty73085 In reply to wideturn [2010-03-05 20:30:56 +0000 UTC]

Do you use the soft charcoal for the base shading and highlighting (steps 2-3)?
And then the Fine Point Pen for detailed highlighting and shading(step 5)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wideturn In reply to Dusty73085 [2010-03-05 21:47:07 +0000 UTC]

nope, soft charcoal for everything. just smaller and smaller brush the fine point pen is only used for the lineart
