Description - The Uka are bat like creatures that dwell mostly in caves and dark, damp climates. However the Uka are very much ingrained into the culture of the Kuros, as the Uka’s main prey was them. The Kuros have tried many times to hunt the Uka down to extinction, but they always seem to come back. The Uka do have the ability to grow into titans, the Ukari’Sirbigh given enough food and age, but it is very uncommon as most Uka die off after 20-40 years.
Behavior and Ecology - Uka live in very large packs consisting of hundreds to even thousands of Uka. The Uka breed fast and can have dozens of pups in a litter, making them very hard to get rid of. Uka are animalistic and rely on instincts, though they seem to be smart enough to track and plan attacks on Kuros. One tactic includes luring in prey by their tails, leading them into places to make the lead attack easier, while their fellow pack members come in from behind and or above to trap and kill.
Anatomy - Uka are typically the size of wolves, but tend to keep low to the ground to avoid being spotted. They have large, bat like ears that rotate and twitch, giving them impeccable hearing. They have up to six black eyes that are only useful at night and in the dark; making light blinding to them. The glow of their tails, however, do not seem to bother them as the light given off is dim. Their heads are crested with hard, bone like horns that can be used to headbutt a Kuros; stunning them by making the metal of their bones rattle and vibrate. Their skin is covered in tiny hair follicles while around their necks are long, abrasive fur.
Uka jaws are filled with ragged, razor sharp teeth that can bite through dragon scales. Because their teeth isn’t strong enough to bite and chew Kurosian metal bones, the swallow bones whole and their stomach acid can melt the metal down. They can also spit up their stomach acid to help digest bigger bones.
The Uka’s tail are the most notable part of them, as like with lantern fish, they have a bulb and bright tentacles that is hypnotizing to the Kuros.

Uka's sound very similar to hyenas, although their tones are far more high pitched. They chitter, hiss, screech and yelp. However they do not use their vocals to communicate with each other. They use body language and even their bulbs when showing dominance.
Mythology - Because the Uka were so successful in hunting the Kuros, they crept into Kuros culture in many ways. From language, to rituals, to folklore and more.
Bruja'Diofuil - A ritual dedicated to the God of Revenge, Bruja'Heim. This ritual was to bring upon a curse to an enemy. The curse would urge the Kuros’ family line to pursue the marked enemy until they were killed, and revenge was achieved. The process included the blood of the Uka, which had to be hunted alone or with family. The blood would be smeared on the Kurosian’s face during the ritual, and they would spend the night at the Brujin temple to pray before Bruja'heim. During their slumber, Bruja'Heim was believed to come to them in their sleep, and either grant them the power of the curse, or deny and scold them for their foolishness.
Facts
Uka have no tongues. They eat by taring off bits of scale and flesh, saving the kuronium last. They eat the smaller bones first, saving the skulls and other pieces too large to swallow whole for later meals when their stomachs are empty in case they have to spit up their stomach acid to help soften them.
Newborn Uka feed on blood and are born with razor sharp teeth. They are born with their eyes closed and they only open a week after birth. Newborn Uka will lay close in bundles to keep warm whilst facing outward with their mouths wide open at all times, closing them only when sleeping. Any blood as long as it's not their own kind. Only Ukari'Sirbigh eat their own kind.
Uka's diet fancy Kuros as they were adapted to handle, but they will eat anything. They prefer dragons but also hunt other creatures of the mountains and caves.
Strobing a light directly at an Uka can momentarily blind them. Most of the time they will attempt to flee screeching in pain, but more aggressive and dominant Uka will attack blindly.

The Kuros are a species & culture created by myself, Weird Hyenas , based on Cynder’s appearance from “Legend of Spyro : A New Beginning”. The culture is heavily inspired by Celtic origins, while the language and names are more specifically attuned to Irish/Gaelic. Kuros are not canon in the LoS games, but are fan made by myself.
