Another naming contest!! Can anyone come up with a better name for this painting? The winner will have my eternal gratitude! I’ve been calling it The Drowning Man or Hand in the Water, but that doesn’t really capture the grim feeling of the painting.

   This rather dark painting from 2014 is from the first chapter my novel, The Castaway, and a perfect illustration of the opening scene. The Castaway is a Gothic horror adventure set in 1843 and features events that lead directly into the best-selling novel of the Pulp Heroes trilogy, Pulp Heroes - Khan Dynasty.

   Here’s a brief synopsis of the novel: As the sole survivor of a doomed merchant ship at sea, a young doctor becomes hopelessly marooned on an isolated tropical isle in the Indian Ocean. Struggling against starvation, cannibals, and solitude, he soon discovers that he is not truly alone on the island. After unwittingly releasing an ancient evil, the lone doctor is forced to battle a hellish demon in order to save his mortal soul.

    The second attachment is a smaller companion piece that I often utilize at art shows in order to hook new readers. At conventions, I sometimes display it alongside the larger original painting, other times I place it at my table near the novel. Must work, I always sell out of this book at every venue.
