great find. Is it house or a shed or both? those windows sure are strange. 2 over 4? weird, did you get a chance to look in inside to see what it's purpose is or was. I am always a bit afraid when approaching an old structure. an alien might jump out an latch on to my face and implant me with it's spawn or worse surprise a colony of skunks and not be able to go home ever

The structure was I think moved to the location in which I found it. The widows I have seen before on railroad structures, like stations and cargo sheds. Given its structure it could very well have served as a house (or bunkhouse for workers) and a storage area or cargo space.
I rarely enter building unless I know they are safe. Mostly this is because I work alone and if anything happens, I could be in a pickle, so i am very careful. Another reason is that I am almost always on private land, and i do not want to do anything to upset land owners. Taking pictures is one thing, snooping through an old house is another. Besides that, I always want to be able to return so annoying a land owner would pretty much prevent that.

I don't go inside for the most part. It would have to look very to be in very good condition and there has to be an open door. I am getting to old to climb through an open window. But if there is a open window or door I always try and get my head in and have a look. I will also crank up the ISO and use my on camera flash just to see what is hidden in the shadows when I get home. I will also put my lens flat on the glass and do a long exposure, I had some great results with this. My biggest worry about old properties is not the building but what is hidden in the tall grass or under it. Old boards with nails or screws, the well with no lid and a drop to the centre of the earth, but I'd take the well over finding the septic tank the hard way

Just thinking and asking, does the government do something about these empty properties?

All of the pictures I take are on private land. As such the government cannot usually impose their will. The only exception could be if it was a hazard, and there was concern that someone could get hurt.
Right now, one of the first hotels in this town is being demolished. What happened is that the building stood empty for years and it was not cared for. A few weeks ago one wall fell. That created a huge risk for the people and businesses around, so the town decided that it had to be demolished. It is a shame really that the owner did not do some simple repairs, so not a landmark building will be lost. Usually government does not interfere in private land, but will do so in the event of a public risk, like this hotel.
